What is even the point of Garuba?

He is short and unathletic - not a good combination for center, IMHO.

Garuba is very disruptive. He can steal a ball when you least expect him to. With upgraded team defense over last year, he could have solid effect.

He definitely should get minutes this season, when we are not competing, to see where he can develop defensively and offensively.

He is 6’8” with a 7’3” wingspan. If you can, watch his next game and tell me he is not athletic. I get that people are down on him, as was I, when he reported to summer camp over weight. Your boy Nix had the same problem. I think he will start again in RGV to work on his offensive game, but he already is very good in the pick and roll and is a good passer. If we are trying to win this year, we will have about a 9 man rotation and he would get very little time on the court. Jabari will get more time at defensive center than you think with Eason at PF.

A late round rookie had a shaky first year and folks really can't handle it. It's the equivalent of actually being mad the Rockets didn't win a championship last season.

"he will not get starters money, nor will he earn it."

    Seems remotely related, tbh.

There are so many young players and unknowns. At this point Rockets would be lucky if even all these hopefuls finds chemistry to play together to begin with. I mentioned KPJ and even he is still an experiment to see if he fits in Rockets long term plan. IMO it is too early to say or decide what Rockets even really need when we do not even know how these current players develop. I see another 2 years of random lineups in the season by Silas and when certain chemistry gets built is when needs such as backup big or PG etc will get filled.

Correction. He needs to EARN his minutes this season, just like Sengun should. Whoever plays the best in training camp should get minutes

I am not wrong, there is no room for him, he will be in the Gleague.

If, I am wrong so is Craig Ackerman who says the same.

Well, there is a stark difference between Garuba likely spending most of his time in the g-league, and Garuba being a waste of time whose days are numbered with the team.

There really is never a good reason (barring criminal and/or attitude issues) to ever take the 2nd position with a 19-20 year old player who barely played in his first season.
