I have true compassion for people who have reached this level of despair.

Agreed, politics and culture don’t mean that much- at our core we are all people that need compassion and understanding.

    Well said
i have friends who had a teenage son commit suicide and a few months later his younger brother did the same,it happened almost a decade ago and they still mourn their boys.

Right now my father is battling late stage Alzheimer’s. Tough to watch. Compassion and understanding are the only conduit left for dignity.

RIP Mr Rootes. May the world bestow compassion and understanding on those he leaves behind as they struggle with tragic loss.

Ah man, terrible news. Condolences to the family. Mental health is such a serious thing. We could all be a little better at trying to understand what so many battle every day, including some right here on the bbs.

    RIP

We know he left the Texans because of Easterby.

Can’t help but think that things would’ve played out differently had he not resigned…

Damn, never met the man but through his interviews and his love for soccer he seemed like a cool guy. You truly never know what people are going through. My condolences to his family, this is so sad

This hits me hard. Jamie is a guy that had a passion for his job I truly admire. He’s a family man who is well accomplished and had the respect of his peers. He’s someone I looked up to as a role model on how to do things right.

There is a correlation between driven personalities and mental Illness. Be it exhibited by alcohol/drug addiction- manic depression- or a multitude of other health impacting choices including suicide. What we idealize is rarely what is best for the psyche.

my thoughts and prayers to his family and to Jamie.
