Is there anyway for the Francis 3 jersey to be retired when he's done?

If the standard is so low, teams will have to start using 3-digits numbers soon.

I'd just thought I add this...

Have you ever noticed what type of player (numbers) ARE retired?

Not always, but most of the time those players were statistical leaders of the franchise, brought a championship, an All-Star, spent much of their career on that team, and last but not least, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

These prerequisites are not set in stone. But they are good measurements of whether or not a player's number is retired.

Rings are not necessary. Longevity and statistical greatness seems to be a stronger factor. See Karl Malone; no ring in Utah, but was so great statistically (HOFer), and spent most of his career there. There's no doubt that his number will be retired in Utah.

If Francis stayed 18 years w/the Rox, but never won a ring. He'd probably have his number retired.

THis suggestion was not thaught about long enough! If the author has then he/she might have decided that he/she would be barking up the wrong tree. The Rockets just got rid of Steve Francis, they didnt need his services any longer after 5 seasons of dribble mania [sorry yetti] and his selfish play. The results of him running the team has been a disaster- a point guard that cant pass and cant be a playmaker. Only the Lord Knows Why it took the Rockets so many seasons to see that they were going down the wrong path and that there were alternatives out there.

I think the Rockets should have one of those rings of honor around the stadium so players like Francis, Mobley, Sampson, Thorpe, Barkley even Hayes can be honored by the rockets in some way.

Absolutely no way the Rockets will retire Steve's number when he's done. He played his heart out for us, but he did not take the team very far.

On the other hand, is there any past Rocket who should have his jersey retired whose jersey has not already been retired?

    Horry perhaps? Probably not.

I think the next Rocket jersey's to be retired, will be Yao's and T-Mac's. How is that for going with the flow!:D

How about Derrick Chievous? Hell, he has twice as many playoff wins (2) as Stevie...

Enough already, the point has been made. You haters need to get over yourself. We are all glad TMac is here, but there is no reason to keep bashing Francis just to reinforce in your own mind that we did the right thing or that Francis was to blame.

You all act like he has an IQ of 10 and raped your sister. Give it a rest already.

What did he do for the Rox in his 5 years here, to earn a legacy that would earn him to get his Jersey Retierd on the Rafters?
