Ngl, considering the contract, gotta say I'm pretty bummed. Wouldn't have blamed the Astros if it were because of some megacontract, but for this contract? Maybe the only way I don't blame the Astros if this is a situation where Boras was trying to get the Astros to negotiate against themselves, and then when they didn't meet the asking price, ego causing Boras/Correa to go somewhere else regardless of the actual salary. Just feel like if it's an issue of ego or whatever, then the Astros need to find a better way to handle these kind of situations.

Oh well, looking at the bright side, at least the waiting is over. Astros continue to decline while staying competitive, it should be an interesting year.

Just woke up and saw this. THE TWINS!? For three years no less. That's the contract they wanted and they didn't match. Unreal.

Crane didn't want to match that? Brantley and Yuli will be gone by 2024. Not sad about it, Correa has earned it. Minnesota needs some sexiness. I am disappointed in the front office.

Wow so strange. No idea why the Astros didn’t match that.

No excuse for losing CC to Minny on that three year deal. One could perhaps make a case for Springer, but not both of them. It's now become painfully obvious that without Luhnow, we are adrift. SMH @ Crane & Co.

Boras probably already has a huge deal in place for Correa to sign with the Yankees after this season. It would just look too bad for hypocritical mlb and Yankees after they went completely unscathed and uninvestigated in the "Astros cheating scandal". It gives him one clean slate season in Minnesota so it doesn't look so obviously ridiculous on the part of Correa, Yankees, Manfred and MLB

I can’t blame the Astros, yet. Feels like Carlos wanted the bag more than he wanted to stay here. Since he wasn’t getting what he wanted from the Astros, he decided to bet on himself again next year.

Maybe the Astros didn’t want to do this all over again next year, and I don’t really blame them.

Isn't it cold in Minnesota in April and May?:confused::confused: No retractable roof. Go away in the land of lakes Correa. :):):)

Well this came out of left field!

It was a fun ride. Stros will still be there at the end with or without Correa - next man up! (who is that by the way - who is slated to replace Correa?)

The opt-outs being the issue seems odd. They aren’t against them as a matter of philosophy (they gave one to Verlander). They can get insurance for injury and barring that he will almost certainly opt-out (even with a less than stellar season). Astros are in contention now and one-year of Correa is a big impact. This seems like the Astros trying to squeeze the best deal they thought they could get and Carlos deciding the Astros would have to beat, not just match any other offer as a result.

I hope they extend Tucker and Alvarez this year because otherwise they should have made a better offer than the Twins.

You don’t agree to the opt outs only if you have a backup plan this year that you’d regret missing on if CC opts out next year. So if we are rolling with Peña I’ll be pissed we didn’t give the dude the opt out.

springer and Correa reminded me why I love baseball so much back in 2016; they really got me hooked again after the Ed wade years. To have both of them gone and still in the AL is really disappointing.

Crane has never been cheap. He's been the best owner in Houston sports for a long time now. This is on Correa. He took negotiations personal and chose to go to Minnesota over a very similar contract post taxes instead of playing with his boys. Makes zero sense. All good, he won't be able to say "its my time" anymore because he won't be sniffing deep playoff runs.

I really think it is something like this. He has something in the works next year to break the bank and the Stros weren’t willing to be used like that. They will now look to extend Alvarez and tucker and continue to develop from within. We will continue to be ws contenders for years to come.

This is what I was worried about with Crane... he seemed like a guy who would spend enough to matter but get cheap when it counts...

160 is enough to win a division but probably not to get a title...

The only conclusion i can think of is Min gave him a deal under the table for next year and this was just a bridge to get to it to pay Boras more...
