Use the Hola extension if you have Chrome. That's how I use MLB.tv to watch Astros games

If you have DIRECTV, they're not blacked out on Root Sports in Austin. Channel 674 or 674-1 (alternate).

I live in the valley and Spectrum doesn't carry any Astros games. Thanks for the find!

Have to wait until May? Man. Were they not developing an app in the meantime or something?

    1. No (or yes)... I use Dish, which I don't think has Root Sports. I like Dish though.

    2. Even if it did, though, still wouldn't matter that much. I use the app. My kid uses the app on his ipad. It's a great way to quickly switch between games, check standings, stats. For league pass, my son would will watch random ass Rockets games form 2 months ago just randomly out of the blue for instance.

SO I'm going to try one of the VPN blockers...

The key is you have to use the account of someone living in Houston. If your Austin TV provider doesn't have Root, you can't stream it obviously. And it won't be online until May.

Not if you live in a Spectrum-only area. I'm in west Austin and can't get AT&T or Grande at my residence. But, because the games are offered on AT&T in other parts of town, it would still be blacked out for me.

    It's a ridiculous system.

The rub is that while you can stream it on your TV, it has to be over the T Mobile network not wifi I just found out....

No, I streamed over Wi-Fi earlier this morning when I activated it. Did you go through the T Mobile Tuesdays app and create an MLB account?

Well, I never went ahead and bought one of the third party location spoofers.
Which is seemingly a good thing because the mlb app has updated so that it uses GPS instead of IP address.
Which means something like yonder.tv or the other options out there - they'll still work on devices with no GPS (tv, appletv, xbox, etc.) but will no longer work on iOS.
If you turn off location services, it will stop working.
I believe same is true on android phones/tablets.

Anybody knows if that's true for watching through the browser? I suspect so, as all the vpn blockers now specifically say no to iOS/Android smart-devices. I was just thinking if there's a way to still use a VPN blocker, then use the browser instead of the app??

    Awesome resource!

Any other Austinites think they will go to more Express games when the switch their affiliation back to the Astros? Their contract with the rangers is up next year I believe.

So I basically didn't get to watch the Astros/White Sox series because of this issue. Anyone have any modern solutions?
