I won’t argue further on 2015 and we can agree to disagree on the definition of contending. They were third in their division in 2016, so I don’t think that counts. Either way, the offense stepped up a significant notch in 2017. They went from first and second most strikeouts in the AL to the fewest. That took them from a slightly above average offense to a historically good one. The postseason in particular is about luck and it’s a lot easier to make your own luck when you don’t strike out as much.
Anyone watching the Yankees vs Mets? Mets are openly accusing the Yankees of cheating via whistling. Lindor rounded the bases on a HR and put his hand to his mouth like he was whistling and said something to the Yankee dugout. Sounds familiar....
It's only been like 5 years. That's franchise's biggest problem is being in the AL east. The Yankees and Red Sox with their endless war chest, and Tampa, maybe the best run organization in sports.
I hope this collapse by the Yankees continue. The holier-than-thou attitude from the Dodgers and its fans almost made me forget how insufferable the Yankees are...almost.
It’s getting real close in the wild card race. Seattle, Oakland, Yankees, Boston, Blue Jay fans have got to be on pins and needles for the reminder of the month; because a losing streak by anyone right now is likely going to eliminate. I’m thinking Toronto and Boston eek it out, but it seems it could come down to the wire.
Yankees play 9 in a row at home hosting Baltimore, Cleveland, and Texas. They should make it easy with that schedule IMO.
The Jays better rediscover their winning ways or their Cinderella story might be over. Wildcard Standing: Boston Red Sox--------0 New York Yankees----0 Toronto Blue Jays----(-2) Seattle Mariners------(-3) Oakland Athletics----(-4)
