Regarding Trump he actually did do somethings regarding gun control, notably ban bumpstocks through Executive Order. He proposed doing more and famously said that we should take guns without due process. Pelosi was willing to work with him on it but he was blocked by Republicans in Congress.

We need to state that there’s a difference though in Clinical mental illness and manufactured extremism. Not differentiating let’s extremist political movements like MAGA and the Taliban off the hook for manufacturing mental illness vs clinical mental illness disease. One is preventable and manufactured for a political goal. ISIS terrorists are not all clinically diseased. They were manufactured via their circumstance and those who used them used them for a power grab.
