The newer animated movies (Golden Age Arc) are pretty good and pretty much follow the same story as the original series (1997) which is what I linked to in my previous post. The newest series is pretty bad but does follow events after original/movies as the story does go on. Yea the ending was pretty unexpected and probably one of my favorites. I'm not sure how long ago you watched the movies but the original is pretty great (even if it's not one of the better animated series) and worth it. The original is on Youtube for free.
I watched Golden Age Arc last year and wanted to see how things went from there. Will give the series you posted a try and then pick up the new series after the ending. I never saw an anime take a huge left turn like it did in that last movie of Golden Arc, I never thought they would go there but it was also kind of logical. Why is the new series so bad?
Some folks prefer the movies, it may just be a matter of what you see first. The new series tries too hard and I'm not really sure where it ends up going. After watching the original and the movies, the story telling takes a drastic hit and just doesn't have the same themes.
Fist of the North Star.....Kenshiro and his "ba ba ba ba ba ba ba" and "Your already dead" Mad Max, wasteland, martial arts super moves.
Dammit, for a second I thought this said "Your Favorite Animal Shows..." That would have actually been interesting.
Some get points for watching them growing up. Ninja Scroll movie DBZ Demon Slayer (probably the best current one) Death Note Parasyte Fist of the North Star Movie If we're going Manga then Berserk is the best one all time imo. First anime series was good also. Also, shout out to Vampire Hunter D. The original and Bloodlust were classics.
