True on the tapering of minutes. 48 minutes of the same threat is great!
It would be the 10-20 minutes they share the court where they run on top of each other!).
One would have to plonk in the corner PJ style I guess?

I don't hate the idea, but I wouldn't sacrifice a heap of assets to get something we already have!! Flip Oladipo straight up for Collins, sure, I am on board.
Not sure how that works for Atlanta though?

He has also proved he can play alongside Capela.

He is not a lockdown switch defender like I prefer next to Wood but Collins has improved in this area.

Collins doesn’t just stay in the same spot though. He is on the perimeter a lot and comes off screens. I don’t really think it would a problem any more so than any other PF/C.

I would not say he is better than Wood defensively at all.

No, he is not a lock down switch defender but he is well above average at this point. Collins and Wood should play very well off each other defensively. Both have lateral quickness, both are shot blocking threats and Collins has a little more sand in his pants. I would like Collins to be a little longer, but he is still 6’9” with a 7’0” wingspan and a strong base. Teams have to account for him.

Give some credit to Capela too.

I am down to throw the max at Capela. We have to at least be above the salary floor.

He is different than Wood defensively. Collins is a good defender and has improved every season. He is a big part of the Hawks defensive improvement and his ability to switch has really helped the Hawks perimeter defense.

Collins isn’t as long as Wood defensively but he has a higher aptitude defensively and he isn’t pushed around as much as Wood.

Defense is like a puzzle. The really good defenses have defenses that are better than the sum of their parts because they either play well off each other, communicate well or don’t make mistakes. Collins strengths and weaknesses mix well with Woods’.

No interest in Capela. Teams can take him off the court in the higher levels of the playoffs.

I love defense, hence my user name.

I've watched Collins and while he has improved he will never be great defensively.

But I like the improved effort and commitment on D, which is critical for improvement. Especially compared to his 1st season when he played zero defense.

Injuries/depth and coaching. They are very young as well.

I thought Nook said he was better defensively.

If so, I'll take Nooks word for it.

I haven't seen much of Collins at all. (Gave up the NBA League Pass this year.) However I did watch Collins against the Mavs the other night and if he's that guy consistently, I would give up quite a bit to get him.

If the Rockets got really lucky they could have a good young starting lineup.

Tate/Collins/Wood/KPJ/Wall with Gordon/Nwaba/Brown/Cousins etc... coming off of the bench.

why did the Pelicans suck so bad if Anthony Davis is so good?

Why do the Wizards suck so bad if Bradley Beal is so good?

Playing defense like we did during the win streak is perfect for this team.

You can believe whoever you like, makes no nevermind to me.

    Christian Wood Def Rating 107.4

    John Collins Def Rating 108.3

The lower the number for defensive rating the better.

So feel free to ignore my eye test but def rating supports Wood as slightly better defender, which I stated.

Even though this phrase wasn't used for all those players, even if it was the "for this team" is a different team and a different role. I would say of those players did fit that role well. House did what he was supposed to when he played and they were really good when he excelled at that role. Knight and chriss were total busts and they gave up too soon on melo. Portland melo would be great for us.

Definitely meant Collins not Capela. Not sure why I was thinking of Capela when I posted.
