I like BT and Kmart Jr pickups, high upside guys with solid role player floors. However if we already got these two I dont see the point of getting guys like Tate , Nwaba, Jones etc. I mean why so many players that do the same thing? Are most of these deals 2 week tryouts or something? If I wanted to fill the squad with rookies I'd out some bigs, pgs and some 6'8 wings in there not just 6'4-6'6 dudes. These guys all do the same thing wtf.
It is excellent or good for college level, we dont know if it will translate to NBA. Curry and Kawhi are on NBA level great obv they wouldnt be comparable. As to why they didnt get drafted its cuz these guys are a dime a dozen take a look at Kevin Martin Jr he is 6'5, plays hard, extremely athletic, only 19 and can already defend and shoot 3s. In a vacuum he is a decent prospect but he didnt really stand out from his peers and he played in IMG academy basically against high school comp so teams passed him by. Nobody knows which of these guys will really break out wings are hardest to predict cuz in high school Darius Miles looked way better than Kobe Bryant and Mario Hezonja looked better than Shai Gilgeous Alexander prior to draft night.
A more athletic Kevin Martin…good D in eyesight. i feel happy young coach silas at least gonna give these kids some minutes to play (even garbage time), not as stubborn as MDA https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...fted-rookie-brodric-thomas-from-truman-state/
And play switch defense. And be a playmaker, especially as short roller. Again, if you liked Jeff Green, then you will LOVE Aaron Gordon, in same role. But as a starter.
Mason Jones is James Harden lite. He is PG in SG body. He could be the Rivers replacement, in a season or two. Not nearly as athletic as other signings plus lazy on D. And Nwaba is a proven stud on D who can defend 1-4, uber explosive when healthy and can also be a tertiary ballhandler.
Jeff Green is a vet min guy who shot 35% from 3. We used him as Tucker and Roco's backup. AG is a career 31% 3 pt shooter and he makes 18M a year. I highly doubt I will love AG in the same role lol. AG might be ok on defense but his offense efficiency nos are extremely bad, seem like he has no scoring skills beyond dunking. If he was good at finishing you can use him as a roll man next to a spacing C like Wood or Cousins but even his 2 pt FG is bad.
Remember what Jeff Green's career 3PFG% was before the Rockets? 32% Rockets system gives athletic players much more space to shoot or take it to rack. Jeff Green was considered an inefficient and ill fitting player once upon a time as well.
The stat sheets looks good but always question stats when we are talking about a conference (GLVC) that I probably could've have played when I was in college back in the late 80's/90's. Just saying. Decent size for a wing. Stroke looks smooth though.
Defense and athleticism should translate to any division. Rodman also played division 2, so did many other great NBA players. Got my fingers crossed.
6'5 guards are Stone's version of Morey's 6'8 Forward tweener from a few year back. In Daryl's fairness, he was right about the type of player, he just drafted the wrong players. Hope Stone is right about at least one.
