Wow what an eye opener.

For all the hype that our backcourt used to get this is pretty sad. Congrats to Yao and Cato though.

How is it that LA seems to have slightly better stats at center than the Rockets on almost every category but Houston is still ranked ahead?

And, how is it that our PG can be 16th and our SG 19th, but together, they are ranked 21st?

How do those rankings work? They have 15 assists per game for Seattle, but niether Allen nor Barry average over 6 assists a game. Are they calculating all the backcourt player's stats, ie the subs? That can't be it because it adds up to too much, so is it just one bench player and 2 starters?

According to the stats (based on efficiency), Houston rank 2nd in their front court behind only the Wolves.

Ranked 6th in their starter and 10th overall as a team (due to our thin bench)

The team ranking actually has high correlation with the actual win/loss standings.

    It's also ranked by Margin. -1.7 -1.1 = -2.8
Together you can rank lower than both individual categories. Do some math you will know it. Give an example:

    team1
    Cate A score 100
    Cate B score 1

    team 2
    Cate A socre 1
    Cate B socre 100

    team 3
    Cate A score 5
    Cate B score 5

team 3 ranks 2nd in both category, but together it only rank 3rd

They take into account the whole production at each position. For example, MJ and other people that sub for SF and Cat are also grouped as a whole in the backcourt category.

I think detroits sf is Prince. So JJ's production vs prince and williamson.

Note that there's a HUGE difference in FT percentage. We can leave Yao in the game late without worrying about him missing FT's in crunch time. Shaq on other hand would be pulled out in the crucial minutes of the game. That's a significant difference IMO.

Many were saying they were one of the better backcourts but I don't remember one sane unbiased person saying they are the best.

Dallas is 3rd in center rankings? Hmmmm, I wonder if that takes only Dirk's minutes at center into account. Sheesh!

do you guys all read english? can you see the word " margin "?
It is not how much you score that matters, it is all about how much more you score over your opponets.

rockets center has a margin of 10.1
laker center has a margin of 7.3

also from 82games.com rockets center has the biggest mismatch in this position.
