Too bad they didn't track hypertension too. All the data around the world fits together. Obesity, Hypertension, Diabetes and chronic pulmonary/cardiac/renal pathologies. We just didn't know about obesity before it hit Europe because there weren't many in East Asia.
What credentials their model has? I have seen 30 different epidemiological models, one of whom by the Imperial College almost killed the United Kingdom before it was put in the trash bin. Did their model predict anything right yet? Otherwise anyone and their mother can make a model.
Wait til the corona virus is over...you gotta be ****ing kidding me. Why would you even entertain the thought of saying that? Somebody needs to check him before he goes live in front of the cameras to say some stupid **** like that.
You think this is the dumbest thing he has said? And yet people of Houston voted for him. He also still kept his appointed Fire and Police Chiefs who have no idea what they are doing and should both have been looked at after Harvey. You have a Fire Chief who had a vote of no confidence by the majority of the firefighters and a Police Chief that has tried and cover up a killing of two civilians and yet Houston still voted for him. I want to be angry but in reality people are just generally stupid and only when it directly affects them do they become concerned. I hope the damage isn't too severe but there is limited testing and alot of people that have the symptoms that aren't being tested because they don't have the testing capacity.
80%? How is it possible? Obese not overweight..? Obesity in the data so far is shown to be a very big risk factor regardless of age (excluding under 20s). That's one if not THE reason ICUs and hospitals in Europe have much bigger % of younger people than reported in SK and China. If Lousiana has a very big population of obese people then their mortality rate could be much higher than other regions.
Louisiana is 37% obese according to CDC This is going off of "self reported" data so you might want to add 5%
well then Louisiana is fcked. Sorry. Not to mention that many of these obese will have diabetes and heart problems. I hope they have sheltered down early and are in strict quarantine.
Houston and Texas in general is who's really fcked. https://www.houstontx.gov/health/Epidemiology/obesity.htm
As you said this is self reported. Do you get state money if you are obese as a health condition? Maybe the real numbers are lower than reported?
Actually I'm seeing two numbers, I see some saying 30%, but some also saying 40% More Than 4 in 10 Americans Are Now Obese: CDC
Interesting, but this is 16 years ago. Because I looked up obesity statistics around the world last week, and it said that obesity in the US is going down and is now almost like Europe's.
