I'm surprised it was mentioned the refs were all disciplined. It is expected that the shitty "Too bad, don't blow leads even though we blew a huge call" thing was the reasoning.
So the league admitted they screwed up and then denied their request anyway because the Rockets had a chance to overcome the league's error. There must be A LOT of leeway in the arbitration process for the league to do what it wants. What is the point of a protest if the league can admit they are wrong and rule in favor of themselves anyway? Kind of a pointless exercise and thanks for another 24 hours of the hot take cycle laughing at Houston.....ugh - hate this ****.
The Rockets should seriously sue the NBA over this, just to prove a point. This is a serious misapplication of the NBA by-laws.
At that rate, Rockets would have blown that additional two points that were owed to us. I think this was fair enough. Now, what is this "discipline" for the refs? Game suspensions? Paid administrative leave?
Would the ruling be different if it happened in Game 7 of a playoffs series??? Shouldn't be different...NBA game is an NBA game regardless...
refs were just rehearsing the fckery they will unleash on the Rockets come playoff time refs were “disciplined” because more attention was brought to their plot than was initially anticipated if the Rockets ever win a title, they will truly have overcome all the odds
I can't find words to express how enraged I am about this. What are protests good for then??? It's hard to find a situation better fitting for a protest and replaying the last 8 minutes of the game.
I’ve never understood what this is all about. Since when did putting the ball in the hoop have anything to do with making money for the nba.....I mean playing basketball
Can you protest a failed protest? What they denied is probably the attempt to challenge the call...... The taken away basket was a mistake call that they admitted but never intended to make right. It is likely more important to them to fix this mistake from happening in the next games rather than fix what lied in the past......
All that matters is that the refs knew they F'd up and were punished for it. All I asked. The Rockets were punished by blowing that lead and taking the L, the refs were punished for Fing up.
so in the playoffs lets say a team lets their opponent come back to tie the series after being up 3 to 1 deserve to have one of their buckets waived off in game 7?
I think the importance of the game, in terms of how it affects the final outcome of the season, could very well be a factor here. It makes sense (to me) to weigh the costs entailed in granting a game protest against that. Clearly no one would care if this was a preseason game, or a late season game between lottery bound teams.
