Watching Correa's post game comments saying the Astros have the talent to still win the series made me laugh. Maybe it would help if he wouldn't strike out on a pitch a foot out of the strike zone with runners on base!
I maybe wrong, but I don't believe the Stros got any hits to the opposite field in 2 games. This means the Stros are overswinging it. Playing hero ball, going for HR. The Correa broken bat is a perfect example, the ball flew weakly like a feather lob because it barely connected to the bat with the hard swing. They just need to play small ball, get hits and not go for it all. Springer is guilty of that, the jog to 1st base when he could of gotten a triple. It isn't over until we lose 4. Go Strosl
Sometimes teams catch fire for a few weeks in the playoffs and ride that momentum to a title. And in fairness, the Nats have been really good since that awful start. That being said, the Astros are a good enough team that they should be putting up at least some resistance. Losing the series is one thing. Going out like chumps is another matter entirely.
'85 Royals, '86 Mets and '96 Yankees are the three teams that have come back to win the WS after losing the first 2 at home. Hopefully the Astros add to that list, and the 16 Cubs are the last team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the WS if it comes down to that. Gotta take 2/3 in Washington now. I just don't know if it will happen because they haven't shown throughout this postseason that they've re-learned how to hit consistently. Astros HAVE to have the record for most LOB in a postseason.
Let's win this for all the 1 year old Astro fans that have never had a chance to experience this. We've got to do this for them, their mother's, their father's, and for every Astro baby who has been treated like a loser for the last year.
The Astros thought they won it when they beat the Yankees, now they got punched in the mouth, I think it is too late for them to respond. No way they come back and win this. DD
I remember that 1996 World Series. The Braves came back from 3-1 down vs the Cardinals in the NLCS and then just destroyed the Yankees in Games 1 and 2 at Yankee Stadium. It looked like they were gonna steamroll their way to their 2nd straight title until the Yankees won Game 3 and then Leyritz hit that 3-run bomb in Game 4(I think off Wohlers) to tie the score. So these things can turn on a dime.
Series needs to extend 6 minimum or this is Buffalo, NC, CP hammy. Even with 7, it's still similar to those... unless we ring again very shortly after.
I wouldn't say no way. But Game 3 is do or die. And the Astros do have a shot at winning that game. Greinke actually pitched well his last 2 starts. He just got zero run support in Game 1 and then got pulled early in Game 4 but only gave up one run(on a bases loaded walk, not a hit). It all comes down to the offense.
It wouldn’t have mattered. Me(an original rockets fan in this site for over a decade) am being seen as a troll. A troll that’s donated to this site before. Dude just asked for me to be banned. I have all of 10 posts in this thread. And check my history with rockets. I usually only post once the post game discussion post happens. I don’t really post during games. Not even on the Nats forum.
I gonna assume he means based on the Astros' performance thus far in the World Series(and offensively dating back to the start of the postseason), there's no reason to believe they'll suddenly flip a switch and start getting hits with RISP.
redskins are the most important team in this city by far jsut like the Texans are in Houston despite them being the youngest of y’all professional sports. Washingtonians would trade all those championships for a redskins super bowl. The wizards haven’t won 50 games in over 4 decades. I knew 22 years ago it would be a mistake to follow them.
Realistically, the best case scenario is probably a game 6 in Houston where we are down in the series three games to two. We aren’t going to take three in DC, and we will more than likely get eliminated there, but if it comes back home things could get interesting. The realist in me thinks it’s over, but the optimist hopes they find a way to play like they had ALL ****ING YEAR until a few weeks ago when they forgot how to drive in runs, hustle, and pitch. They are just so much better than they are playing right now.
No he doesn't. If you win Game 3, save him for Game 5 on full rest. Game 4 is no longer a must win. And last time I checked, they fared just fine in a bullpen game in the ALCS(at least til Osuna came in).
