Just said on the ESPN halftime show between Golden State vs New Jersey. Noone else on the panel said anything to dispute that either.

I think the past two LA games and now the wolves game gave Yao a lot more credibility with the media than even the biggest YOF expected.

    Wait...you arern't bashing anyone???? wow...

in seriousness: Yao can only play as well as he wants...there is no ceiling for him. If he is agressive every game and shoots 15-17 shots every game Yao is an MVP candidate simple as that. It has nothing to do with the guards not involving him, it has everything to do with Yao's desire to be the greatest player the NBA has ever seen.

Well, he still needs to grab a couple of more rebounds per game, or block more shots. What happened to his rebounding?

Duncan and Garnet have Parker and Cassell feeding them the ball. Yao has Steve...

    Nuff said.

The problem though is that the Wolves didn't really double team Yao at all. The "bad" teams though will force our other guys to beat them.

You're really serious? You honestly believe that failure to successfully put the ball in the post has nothing to do with the players who are supposed to get the ball there?

Wow. You can blame the various players (Yao, the guards, our SF's size, Cato's inability to shoot)... but to attribute it solely to Yao's perceived lack of aggressiveness? That's insanity.

Yao's dominant has a lot to do with his teammates too. Sure Yao can do his own thing and dominate by himself...but imagine if he has good teammates that can pass him the ball and make it easy for him...it'll make him look even more dominating!

That's what the Lakers did for Shaq. They pass him the ball with great timing.

In the previous 4 years, Shaq got about 20 shots a game and around 10 FT attempts. Kobe got about 22 shots a game and 7 FT attempts. Shaq was definitely getting his. So that's a bad argument.

If Steve was as good a guard as Yao is at center, I'd like them to have similar FG attempts. But let's face it, Yao is much closer to Shaq than Stevie is to Kobe right now. So Yao should actually shoot more thatn Steve, not just equal number of shots.

Of course, if Steve plays like tonight for the rest of the season, then I'd be happy with him taking about the same amount of shots as Yao.

Ideally if SF3 can get his jumper going and shoots a reasonable 43% from the field, I will definitely want to see

    SF3 16 FGA/game + 5 FTA/game = 19-20 ppg
    Yao 18 FGA/game + 8 FTA/game = 26-27 ppg

    Cat 12 FGA/game = 14 ppg
    JJ 10 FGA/game = 10 ppg
    Mo 9 FGA/game = 10 ppg

The rest of the team 14-16 FGA/game = 12-14 ppg

It's too bad Yao can't just shoot 30 times per game and average like 40 ppg :D

Who's Greg Buckner? Isn't he a player on the Sixers? He's doing double-duty as an analyst on ESPN's halftime show?

You must mean Quinn Buckner. No, wait, Greg Anthony? Carmelo Anthony? Marc Anthony? Bill Buckner?

The short black guy that is a studio analyst at ESPN. He's on the same panel with Laimbeer and Steven A. Smith. I thought his name was Greg Buckner but I could be wrong.

You must be thinking of Bill Buckner (the guy who became famous for letting the ground ball to first go through his legs)

........no, it must have been Marc Anthony ;) - wasn't he Julius Caesar's ex-best friend?

    Time for some coffee:)

It's Greg ANTHONY not Greg Buckner. Buckner is still a player in the league.

Yao is really a smart player who knows what to do what not to do to stay healthy. Just look at other top big guys ... Rox are really blessed.
