if we go with mark "the dinosaur" jackson as our ONLY point guard, and back him up wiht mobley, we are royally screwed.

    your trade is awful.

No offense but you got to be the worse NBA talent evaluator on message boards. Troy Murphy over Pau? Vlad Rad? Brian freakin' Cardinal?

I consider Pau and Yao equals. I think in the not so distant future they will battle for the WC championship.

The Vlad and Murphy comparisons to Pau were way off base and that's coming from a Rocket fan. Before anyone starts throwing the "Silentfan is really a Grizzlies troll" I just so happen to think Memphis is a better team than the Rockets this year and I've stated so since November. There's no harm in being an objective fan, and admitting defeat when you're clearly outmatched.

Back court is disaster. Cato or MoT for Gasol is better, throw in some cash and a pick.

If we're going to trade SF for a power forward, let's at least trade him for someone who has a range out to 18 feet and is also strong enough to do some banging on the inside. Gasol is a decent scorer. but a mediocre rebounder for someone his height and not much of a defender at all.

I'd say the best bet would be Elton Brand. Compare to Gasol, he's a better scorer, a better rebounder, a better shot blocker, a better defender, a more consistant player, a harder worker, and just does his job without all the whining. Plus he's got the same contract as Steve, which makes the trade simple. When the Clips realize they're not going to get Kobe, they'll start drooling over the prospect of getting a high-octane, exciting player like Steve.

Guys, don't forget that Pau Gasol WAS a Rocket before and we let him go... He played under the name Pete Chilcutt, I believe...

Well...to be fair to MemphisX Pau and Yao's stats are remarkably similar.
    Yao 17.3 points Gasol 17.7
    Yao 8.8 rebounds Gasol 7.8
Yao 1.7 blocks Gasol 1.7 blocks

    What a joke?

I would pick at least 30 players in the NBA ahead of Pau to start a franchise. I'm pretty sure Pau has better stats than about 10 of those players!

I'm not saying that I wouldn't take Yao every day of the week and a hundred times on Sunday, I was just throwing out the stats to be fair.
