Good film study. But also wanted to pull out this quote "A team source told The Athletic that Gordon is also very likely to start this season alongside Harden and Westbrook."
Need that floor stretching while WB is in there. Makes sense. Also hopefully WB will offset the rebounding loss from having a 6'3 SF. Would be great if House won that spot over the course of the season.
He's making starter money, might as well be a starter. Plus this fits the MDA dream 3-guard small-ball lineup
Yup, it was our best lineup last year, so not sure what fans here expect...the problem is Tucker and Gordon as a pair is small, not Gordon being 6’3.
that shouldn't really be a surprise since hou never added anyone to replace the wing position ariza/moute left behind. its positionless basketball anyway. you could plug anyone of these guys starting and call them the "sf" pretty meaningless
Harden has been guarding 3's and 4's for a while now. He's the forward on defense, which is fine given he's built like a tank and is a good rebounder. He's horrible at guarding smaller players that move a lot off the ball. I think that's a natural place for Harden to play now that he's 30. On offense, who the hell cares, he plays the way he plays and he doesn't choose who guards him at the start of a possession. WB and Gordon are going to guard the two smallest players, with Gordon taking the tougher defensive assignment. If people think Harden and Westbrook are going to guard the backcourt, that's hilarious. Imagine Harden and Westbrook guarding the Blazers, Kings, Warriors backcourts. Capela Tucker Harden Gordon Westbrook We can live with all those heights except Tucker in some matchups. We really need a 6'9+ 3&D guy to spell him.
Not a big fan ,mainly because Dantoni likes to run these fads during the season but yet dont work in the playoffs, example shooting only 3s and layups ,do i think they can be efficient in the regular season vs regular teams ?yes, but keep in mind we have 1 goal and thats to win the chip ,theres 3 teams we have to worry about clips, lakers and bucks ,do u really want Eg guarding bron at the 3 or guarding pg ?No ,for chemistry purposes and defensive purposes its better to put house in and let him take that responsibility from early on.
I don't like it. Let's hope it's just temporary. EG needs to be the 6th man...playing within his ROLE..for maximum efficiency and to minimize the downside risk of injury. Sure, he's starter material...with All Star talent, but that doesn't mean it's what's best for him or the team. I'm not saying the answer resides on our roster at the moment. But, the powers that be need to get to it... Need a couple of 3's/swingmen in the worst way. We can win a lot of games with this lineup, but need more come playoff time. All that said, I have full confidence in DM taking care of business. (perhaps a 3 will drop in our lap soon)
there's nothing that says house in the lineup over EG was better for the rockets. it only sounds nice on cf's bc people have such high hopes and exceptions for him. the difference is with EG in the lineup, the rockets have shown to be very good and just assuming house needs to start based on minimal results isn't really ideal. what the rockets needed to do was get a proven wing, so here we are.
I doubt this what D'Antoni stays with. He will tinker with the lineup and if it works having EGo on the floor at the same time as JH and WB, then he'll have that option to choose from.
We don’t really need a Microwave off the bench when we will have either Harden or Westbrook on the floor at any given time.
