Doesnt he have a lifetime shoe deal from Nike? When the shox line rolled out 18 years ago, he was the face of Nike after Jordan. I doubt he's hurting for money, and he has always been a low key and grounded player. He's the last of a dying breed, and the fact he can play at such a high level at his age, shows his natural abilities. Him and Drik, should retire at the same time.
I thought the new Atlanta GM was smart but with the Trae Young draft and now this he looks more and more mediocre every passing day, wtf how about signing some young dude with potential. If he really wanted a veteran locker room presence he should have signed Ariza or Wade.
Vince is a legend and a proven locker room mentor while Ariza & Wade would be asking far too much for that role ? In fact, does Wade really want to play the role of elder statesman at this stage of his career? Does not seem to be the type.
Really? Who has he mentored? Even Spurs gave up on him by now lol at least Ariza and Wade can still play and help them win games in addition to being a vet locker room presence.
Ariza already signed with someone else, didn't he? And Wade will either go back to the Heat or play in China for a lot of money.
But he signed a vet minimum deal. I would think he could still get that on a contender. If the Hawks were paying him more than the absolute lowest they can legally pay him under the current CBA I would understand why VC would choose the Hawks. And I mean, I guess if the Hawks were literally the only team in the league willing to pay him a salary at all it makes sense, but I sure would have rather seen him finish his career on the Raptors. And btw, I met Vince Carter many years ago and he was a gigantic jerk to me. Even still I hate to see him end his career on this iteration of the Hawks.
