We don't have much money left to spend & most of the decent wings and bigs in free agency are gone. Where we currently stand...

    Paul, Rivers
    Harden, Green
    Gordon, House
    Tucker, Clark
    Capela, Hartenstein

Question: What if we have to depend on House, Hartenstein, & Clark?

Well let's go back to last year and look how some of their lineups did (stats from nba.com)...

    P. Tucker, .E. Gordon, .J. Harden, .C. Capela, .D. House Jr.
    21 gms, 192 mins, +14.7 net rating

    C. Paul, .P. Tucker, .J. Harden, .C. Capela, .D. House Jr.
    13 gms, 35 mins, +43.1 net rating

    C. Paul, .P. Tucker, .J. Harden, .C. Capela, .G. Clark
    6 gms, 30 mins, +31.1 net rating

    P. Tucker, .E. Gordon, .J. Harden, .C. Capela, .G. Clark
    9 gms, 30 mins, +47.7 net rating

    C. Paul, .G. Green, .E. Gordon, .C. Capela, .D. House Jr.
    8 gms, 27 mins, +27.9 net rating

    C. Paul, .G. Green, .E. Gordon, .C. Capela, .G. Clark
    7 gms, 17 mins, +44.4 net rating

    .P. Tucker, .E. Gordon, .J. Harden, .I. Hartenstein, .G. Clark
    6 gms, 12 mins, +92.0 net rating

    C. Paul, .P. Tucker, .E. Gordon, .I. Hartenstein, .G. Clark
    4 gms, 12 mins, +61.5 net rating

*So, those lineups were pretty good in the limited minutes they played last year surrounded by chaos. What if they actually are penciled in permanently into the rotation and those lineups are given more minutes? Thoughts.

    The question kinda answers itself.

I guess that would make it rhetorical.

I like our young guys, but we saw what happened with House in the playoffs this year. Even if all three have great seasons, you don't know how that translates into the postseason. I'm happy starting the season with them if we can get more veteran buyout guys later

It’s pretty obvious that’s what they’re doing. Not going to be a fun year, folks. On top of that it’s obvious Leonard is going to the lakers. Rockets might be fine record wise. But the nba will make sure the Lakers are coming out of the west for the next few years. Basically there is no point in watching.

Hell at some point they have to play anyway in order to see what you really have.

Well experience helps. They should be decent regular season contributors this year. Next year potentially playoff contributors. This year i anticipate clint to be a better playoff player. We just need to stick with them. They will improve.

I'm kinda high on all those three guys so, i actually prefer if they don't waste the MLE or hardcap themselves to use the BAE on some mediocre players like Jeff Green ecc, give the young guys a chance, develop them like other teams do for once, and use the money on players worth it (JaMaychal, Marcus) if available, otherwise just wait for opportunities, fill the bench with vet minimum contracts and resign Shumpert in order to have salary to trade.

Gordon is a guard. 3-guard lineup needs to go.

very promising. Hopefully they can step in as full time starters. harty is the most promissing with his ability to rebound, protect the paint and his 3's. i think he was a little lost on O and D out there last year but he brought energy, size, and skill. he just needs to learn where to be and when, on both ends.

They’re going to need them to step up as rotation players. House proved his worth, should be a contributor without the contract dilemma. Clark showed himself a potential 3&D forward. Another year and some actual confidence from coach he should be more consistent. Hartenstein dominated g league, chip and MVP at 20 years old.

You’ve got to roll without them at the start to see the progress at the end. Anybody on this board declaring them done already needs to re-evaluate life.

Depends on whether or not MDA grants them consistent minutes, even if they're going through a shooting slump (looking at you, Clark). You gotta build these guys up during the regular season so they can contribute in the postseason.

I'm with you. Clint has only shown improvement every year. Perhaps the playoffs showed us that we ought to help him develop some O outside of the alley oop during the regular season. Say to the man, every game you will try 4 post ups at least, and on occasion (say against the Suns or Grizz) we tell him that he must put up 10 shots, miss or make. We are essentially running back with the same squad while other teams either got worse, or will have to figure out how to play together/gel with their new players. It's also kinda fun to cheer for a somewhat consistent group for a couple seasons.

Just some optimistic thoughts for a Wednesday morning. Peace be with you clutchfans.

I like all 3 guys. I'm skeptical on all of them though.

Is House going to resume shooting at a poor rate?
Is Clark too slow laterally to play a switching PF?
Does Stein's shot have too much movement to be a consistent outside threat / will his "hustle" get exposed as just bad defense when given more minutes?

But even with the skepticism, I like those 3. House's contribution to our rebounding is legit. I was the first Clark-Only-Fan. And Hartenstein has done nothing to scare me away yet.

All of those guys were young players and or rookies last year.

Its disingenuous to assume that they wont improve between then and now.

Go look at Giannis' rookie stats.
