Awaiting the Luhnow Death Star any minute now. Only thing missing is an Astros hat on Ron (an actual Astros fan, too).
In before the overreaction. "OMG, why was he not called up sooner!?" "All that hype and this is it? This guy is a bum!"
Well, Luhnow did say "soon" when he was in the booth today. Now, let us all prepare for the glorious disappointment that can only come from impossible expectations.
Well, that's probably not likely as he wouldn't pass through wavers. But I agree he needs to go down.
Sweet... all he has to do is hit .400 with 10 bombs in 30 games and we will be satisfied... easy expectations
I think the corresponding move will be Mayfield. He’s obviously pretty overmatched (despite the homer yesterday) and Straw can be the backup SS. Otherwise it’ll be Guduan and they’ll go back to 12 pitchers.
He either will pass through waivers/get traded or he won't at some point this season. I'm unsure on how Astros view Alvarez at 1st. Could be Guduan. If they like Straw at SS, it could be Mayfield.
The Astros can transfer Lance McCullers Jr. to the 60-day IL to make room for Yordan Alvarez on the 40-man roster.
He helped us win Game 2 of the WS. That said, what's his story? He was a pretty outstanding bullpen pitcher the last 2 years and couldn't make the Dodgers' postseason roster last year or get a MLB job this year? What happened?
Not good in high leverage situations... numbers regressed as he had more of those opportunities. While his fastball is fast... its got no movement. That was true from the very beginning. If he can't spot it with pin-point accuracy, it could be trouble.
Sure - but there's an endless number of Guadans and Brady Rodgers all over MLB. Is Fields really worse than all of them? He was great in September after his return, and I find it hard to believe no one can find a place for a guy with 3 straight years of sub 3 ERA.
Yes! I'm ready for some Yordan on the big stage. Can't be any worse than White and Mayfield, but has the potential to be very exciting addition. Go get 'em kid!!!
