The problem now is …. how do you spend money when you don't have any contracts to absorb salary with and you will have only the Taxpayer version of the MLE to spend ? Spending on minimum guys just isn't going to get it done and that's about the only option they have …. and they are going to lose several players to FA. Someone's gonna pay Rivers and Faried will likely get T-MLE type money , then you have Green , House & Shumpert who you have full bird rights to but probably wont be resigned at anything close to his current contract figure of ~$11m. Green …. is eligible for about $9.6m from the Rockets this year with Early Bird rights. That may be Morey's ticket to acquiring a quality piece - package Green and an asset for an upgrade in December …. Maybe you can get Green and Shumpert to take one year deals and that's your financial vehicle for adding salary ? (It's going to put you over the tax)
I don’t think Tad has much to do with the roster or team direction on the court but I’d be all for bringing Hinkie back in to run the roster to mix things ups, and promote Morey to more of a president role. I suspect that's kind of his role now anyways, but a way to give someone like Hinkie the chance to get creative with the roster we have & put in the leg work with some trades to give the roster a breath of fresh air.
