It's early but so far he's been a disaster. Hope he turns it around. He hasn't been this bad on the Kings and the Cavs, so there's hope...

Meh, never had high expectations on offense. I’ll still give him the benefit of the doubt this year to turn it around on defense. Sucks he has so little time to turn it around but these Rockets have high aspirations.

Shump isn’t all that bad but he’s not going to make any huge splashes

I can only see him being a positive during certain matchups when he can bring defensive energy

Fantastic use of an expiring contract and a 1st round pick

So your saying luxury tax savings is actually more impactful on the court. Wow

By simply benching him, we’re that much better? My eye test was bad but daaaaaaammmmmm - that reality tho

He has the physical tools to justify using some of the remaining wing minutes on him. It;s clear that our system seems like a bad fit for his talent, he still resists some 3s and when our switching and rotations are put to test he usually has glitches. But all of those flaws, while being big, can be corrected with playing time.

The real discussion should be how many minutes to bet here? and how long can we keep the experiment going?
There is a case to be made on a much larger return behind a similar experiment increasing Austin Rivers role or another one trying Faried at the 4 with Tucker at the 3. The last one is where I personally see a higher potential.

But the truth is there are few games remaining, playoff race keeps hot and with so many variables may be you could try an approach where you do not "marry" to an experiment but keep trying different things and instead try to build as much tactical flexibility as possible going into the playoffs

Keep in mind the Rockets gave away a superior player in James Ennis.

    Tilman is cheap.

    # 2 has to be addressed with the most urgency. Just can’t have those lapses vs quality playoff teams. Rivers at least gets the scheme. We can get away with him missing 3’s but not being dialed in defensively is where he becomes more of a liability.

    I looked it up.

For those not in the loop my <5 minutes of research unveiled Shumpert and his wife enjoy threesomes. Apparently they invited a p*rn star over for a threesome and she got pregnant. The pornstars pregnancy & subsequent birth of daughter has created a rift in Shumperts and said wifes relationship.

We got to stop getting players who are known to be in woman drama. Harden was at his worst with the Kardashian, Carmelo sucked for us as he worked to resolve issues with his wife. Meh, marriage/girlfriend problems should be a ref flag when signing or trading for guys.

Now it all makes sense. Bad timing for domestic drama. I can see that being distracting.

even more surprising now.. homey prefers 2's over 3's.. and he still hasn't been able to pick up our switching scheme

Resigning Shump is no brainer. His salary will be needed for future trades.

Yeah. I would usually say give it time, BUT
He is awful and if he does turn it around and give us his best, it’s really nothing that great.

I would be happy to never see him on court in a Rockets uni again.

There is playing badly, and there is seemingly not giving a damn. When he plays, I see the latter (as evidenced by long twos and no effort).

I cannot BELIEVE the Cavs were beating people with Shumpert & JR Smith playing heavy minutes. What a world.
