Really wonder why he picked OKC over us. It doesn't make much sense because there is no playing time for him there.
There hasn’t been a single point in the season where our current roster has played together and been 100% healthy. It makes no sense to assume a broken down roster will have the same success as a healthy one with new pieces. We have the matchup advantage against both teams. Neither of them are a playoff threat to us. Denver is a pretender like the 14-15 Atlanta Hawks When Paul and Capela play themselves back into shape and Rivers, Shumpert, Faried, (House), settle into their roles we will be fine.
The media narrative for 8 years is that they were cheap and wouldn’t resign him. They offered him $55M for 4 years. The max they could offer was $60M. That’s $1.25M per year. It makes no sense to assume that money had anything to do with their decision. Like you note, they could have just amnestied Perkins. Thus the long time narrative has been completely senseless. Harden himself later came out and said the ability to get a 5 y $80M deal as the designated team player was a factor in the decision. Add in the fact that the team is owned by oil guys and bankers, industries that have a tendency to see employees as easily replaceable, you could see where the real issue was a perceived lack of commitment on the part of the team’s sixth man. If the Thunder have another 1st round exit, maybe they blow it up. But the moves they have made do not suggest they are terribly concerned. If anything, this might show you that the owners’ constant money whining about their losses is just a facade. Or it could just mean that the Thunder’s balance sheet is really positive and they can afford this for a while. Remember, they don’t have huge loans to pay off.
Rockets with 2 future Hall of Fame players continue to lose to bad teams after having large leads. If you don't see there is a problem then you must be Morey.
there is. patrick patterson will not be playing anymore unless there is a blowout, heavy foul trouble, or injuries.
This. Things can turn on a dime. Until Ramona's report yesterday, not Woj, Shams, Haynes, or anyone had reported OKC as in the mix. With how quickly things can change, what's the incentive to ever say anything if any other outcome is going to lead to you getting ridiculed?
I'm sure it's total coincidence that he signed with them instead of us shortly after they came back from 26 down in our building.
We will see. This team looked terrible early on. They have no SF ( I don't expect House to be back ) PJ and James ( They are already getting burnt out) will be have dead legs by the time the playoffs come around. Chemistry is a big thing. This team doesn't have it and I don't think there are enough games remaining when Cling comes back to even get that. We are what almost dead last in D? Even with Clint and House the D was average at best. Hope I'm wrong but I don't think the playoffs will be very good to us this year. ( Assuming we even make it )
It’s almost laughable how bad Morey and Tillman have been the last 8 months. And I don’t count Faried/Rivers as they just landed in their arms from heaven.
Aren't the Rockets basically over the cap next year too with Rivers, Faried, & Shump all off the books? If the salary dumps were all made with future flexibility and with the assets they flushed to get those deals done, that's looking like a bit of a stretch.
Patterson is playing 15 mpg, that goes to him, then Grant playing 32 mpg will have his minutes decreased, so probably like 20 mpg can be available for him.
They're just feigning interest so "contenders" waste roster spots on them. The real x-factor will be available soon Spoiler
Probably because the Rockets may have a better buyout candidate in mind that has yet to be bought out....the name rhymes with Damychal Breen.
I think last year players wanted to play in Houston because the team had an efficient offense with two elite creators who can get the other guys involved. This year players are standing at the three point line barely engaged as they watch Harden and Paul jack up contested iso threes. Also, our pace grinded to a crippling halt. This offense can't be enticing for Free Agents.
