The league subsidies the veterans minimum for >2 year players. For luxury tax calculations, you’d use the 2-year minimum (roughly $1.5 MM)
You are more optimistic than I am there … Do you really see them going over the tax line in signing three players (one being House I assume?).
If the right player becomes available in the pool sure. But regardless one way or the other by the playoffs those 3 spots will be filled. I’ll lean more towards signing 3 players and staying under the tax
Plus the league reimburses a portion, so the full base compensation doesn't count toward the final cap hit. Rockets have some wiggle room, especially if it becomes clear that Capela's likely incentives might change. He does have an Unlikely incentive he's pretty close to reaching too though, so any signing could come back to bite them.
our playoff roster should be: Cp3 Harden Gordon Rivers Shump Green Tucker Faried Clint Nene House M. Morris This team is good enough win as long as we control the style and tempo
I hear you man, i'm waiting to see how he performs in the playoffs before i panic though. Maybe he's being conservative since he knows he's injury prone.
Signing Markieff probably allows you to skip out on signing another center, so I’d make him our top priority assuming he’s fully recovered. Converting House at some point seems to make sense but I wouldnt be surprised if we keep him down in RGV in order to maintain leverage and keep his QO down. I don’t think his agent did him right...there won’t be a bidding war because the sample size was small, he’s 26 and the Rockets can match any offer. Then maybe a Prigioni type that can run an offense if CP3 gets hurt.
@BimaThug layed it out perfectly on his twitter just right now on how the Rockets can stay below the tax and sign out buyout guy..... praying that mama Bima gets better and 100% in no time. Prayers up!
I’m glad you corrected yourself from your initial statement. Nothing like some cash on the line to get someone to come to their senses!
If we can add Markieff Morris it would be huge. Then convert House, combined with adding Shumpert I think we will have improved our team significantly on the defensive end. If Harden, Paul or Capela get hurt in the postseason we're f**ked, nothing we could have done will change that fact. But with those additions I think we legit could beat the Warriors.
Are you guys sure that Kief will be healthy? I’m hesitant because of the nature of his injury. From what I read it is extremely rare. The original timeframe was 6 weeks for him to get back. Now he’s asking for a second opinion? Something doesn’t seem right. If we sign him and reaggrvates that nerve we would be screwed.
It is not a done deal. He is expected to be bought out because the coach does not like him. Robin Lopez is engaging with the Bulls currently according to Woj on a contract buyout as well. As for Pau, yeah you’re probably right. He’s owed way too much money.
