Agreed 100% on Robin Lopez. He’s a solid all-around player and has a little crazy inside him. Would immediately be rotation worthy.
Pretty sure CK was joking ... but the answer is $4.5m. We spent $838k on Isaiah, in order to sign him for > 2yrs, like we did with Zhou last year. (mini-MLE is $5.337m this year.) (Minimum deals are limited to 2yrs, so Morey uses MLE to sign 2nd-rounders to 3+ years to avoid later Arenas Clause poison pills.)
Rockets will likely have to dip into that AGAIN with Gary Clark. Another 800K to get a 3yr deal. (something they would have done with Melton if he stayed).
Correct, which makes it impossible to also sign Luc....hence maybe why LAC signed him at a price point where Morey couldn't use the MLE on two rookies AND Luc. That said, most indications at the time (Bima included) were speculating Morey was holding onto MLE for Melo. Of course, I wouldn't rate using the MLE (to avoid unlikely poison pills later) over Luc. That's just our perfect world. You simply sign Luc and secondarily use MLE on rookies to avoid poison pills, since they might never happen. I look at it this way, would you now allow yourself to be outbid on a Buyout Candidate merely to get Clark a 3yr min pay contract via MLE vs a 2yr?
The 3rd yr is a value add if you can get it. Otherwise the 2nd yr is RFA, and that is fine too. Look what the Clippers did with Harrell.
just one problem. he isn't a pg. he would just be another off ball guard but still better than mcw yes. however that's not really saying too much
It sure seems the Suns are bending over backwards to help the Lakers this season. Of course LeBron was mostly responsible for getting Suns GM James Jones 3 rings while in Miami and Cleveland.
So who's the next savior for this season? Tell me before I start scouting lottery talent in the 2019 Draft.
