It seems that the one who does not understand is you. Paul's contract is atrocious. 160 million for a player who will not play on consecutive nights and has physical problems for the sixth consecutive season? Really? Or do you expect Paul's physical problems to improve with age?
The problem with Anthony is not his contract, it is the distraction he has created and the unnecessaryness of his arrival.
Again, the hiring of this offseason has been pathetic, with the exception of some Gary Clark moments.
Is Morey the worst GM in the league? No, not close. But his work in this offseason has been a disaster. Wake up man!

I completely agree. The Golden State Warriors, winner of 3 of the past 4 years, will be just fine despite the on going kd drama.

Wait.... who are you talking about?

True story, I did this, and you'll thank me when the Rockets lose out and end up winning the NBA Draft lottery.

IF the Rockets had signed both Ariza and Moute, there is no reason to think they would be better. Ariza is hardly setting the world on fire and Moute is injured and not playing. On the other hand, the role players that were added have been just awful thus far with no obvious reason for optimism. I don't know where he found these folks, but everybody on the board had very low opinions of the additions.

ONLY ONE PLAYER TO BLAME. James Harden !~!naturally. but no need for separate thread. There have been threads citing him as the reason for all losses for about 6 years,

I very much think we overachieved last year however Ariza at least provided a level of competency. That’s what our team/bench missing, a level competency.

I’m just pissed that all of the Harden’s prime years are being wasted. The contract for Chris Paul was ridiculous. He can’t even stay healthy enough to make it through the season and you give a guy $160 million? Just stupid. Now we’re stuck with what we have and there’s no money to bring in quality bench players.

unless you expected cp3 to play for free, there wouldn't have been money to bring in players anyway. they would be over the cap regardless which has again been stated time and time again. why people still dont understand this is pretty funny. so instead of complaining thinking that cp3 is holding the team back, you should be taking issue with whoever is in charge of spending, not willing to spend and opting for the "outplay your contract value route"

Also what so called players would they bring in. They met with mcw as the first FA. that should tell you plenty about who was legitimately interested in coming here. but hey "we will have our pick of free agents"

Harden is wasting his own prime years, he is not leading, he is not playing defense, oh sure, he is playing great offense, but when your best player has reverted to his lazy defensive ways, the rest of the team takes note.

This, he just gets beat easily on defense and the other teams knows this. Barrea was asking for clearouts when Harden was on him...very sad.

Not only that...his turnovers are really bad which results to easy baskets on the other end.

He might score 40+ but he gives back 10-15 points on defense and turnovers easily.

Fire Morey, hire Hakeem Olajuwon as GM.

Fire D'Antoni, hire Vernon 'Mad Max' Maxwell as head coach.

Fire Keith Jones, hire big breasted masseuses for the whole team.

Its time for this team to party-- hard.

Too many changes have destroyed this team and yes, I blame Morey too. We traded off almost everyone, and have had an endless rotation of players who many people have never heard of before coming to Houston. We will continue this endless pursuit of minimum salary players to support our big three contract players. The problem is that we can't win when one of them is out.

Last year should have been a huge wake up call that Chris can't stay healthy, and that we screwed up trading off so many players to get him, and now can't even win without him. To make matters worse we go and trade off two more players to sign Chris after he couldn't even last a month straight most of the year, and now we are more gutted than ever. Morey really screwed up this team by gutting it away. We were closer to being Champions two years ago than we are now.

So. We should have let him walk? There were two choices. Max him or let him walk. There is no middle. Morey was f**ked the day the trade was consummated. His little calculator or abacus or whatever the hell he uses calculated a good 3 years of Paul at a high level followed by two declining years would be worth it. Unfortunately that gamble did NOT pay off in the slightest. Hindsight is always 20/20. Had we let cp3 walk do you think your susperstar James Harden would have been doing backflips of joy? No. He would have been pissed. He asked for help. DM got help. It’s just that help fossilized over night. Yea I would love for Morey to trade us back to relevance. But with what assets. Who wants any of the trash heap we have? Our picks. Whatever. They are only worth so much. We might just have to face the reality that the Harden / Paul window slammed shut during game 5 of the 2018 WCF. And the further reality that we are boxed into a pickle of a financial corner with our cap situation. Mid level and vet mins for 3 years is not a lot to work with.

Dreams of packaging Chriss, Knight, a first round pick, a half full Gatorade bottle and A stale hot dog bun for Jimmy Butler are just that. Dreams. We had our one OMG trade and it landed us James. That kind of luck doesn’t happen often. Only other time was the two coin flips that netted us the twin towers. Maybe flipping Franchise and Cat for TMAC counts as a good land as well.

Phoenix really f’ed is by overpaying Trevor. We would be doing better with Ariza. He was just as important to the comradery of this team as he was on the floor.

what do you not understand about how cap space works? we paid him 160 million bc we had h is bird rights, otherwise we could've gotten someone for about 5-10 mil a year. who do you suggest we should have signed for 5-10 mil who would give us a better chance in the playoffs vs the larriors?

those are bullshit words, not actual costs.

ok, but who is playing his minutes right now? depth isn't about having great bench players, it's about having guys who can produce so your workhorses don't get gassed
