Just out of curiosity, would it be "America first" to harm the US economy and US interests merely to seek some kind of revenge against the Saudis for killing a Saudi religious extremist? Should the US seek revenge against every country that kills one of their own citizens they deem an enemy of the state?

 

The economy would be not affected at all or only minimally so. Trump has lied about how much the Saudis spend. It would help America to show that we stand by principles.

 

So if the Saudis retaliated with an oil embargo it wouldn't affect the economy at all or would only be minimally so? I very much disagree. Also, "stand by principles"? Since when do we seek revenge every time a country kills one of their own citizens that they deem an enemy of the state?

If Trump cares about harming the US economy so much why did he get into a stupid trade war with China?

 

In this instance, he was viewed as an enemy because he was a religious extremist with ties to terrorists who was speaking against the country for not going along with what religious extremists would have them do. There's no question that it was wrong for them to have murdered him, but is it THAT much different than when the US murdered a US citizen named Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen with a drone strike? When we murder our own citizens in other countries because we deem them to be enemies of the state apparently that's fine, but we should seek revenge against Saudi Arabia when they do it? How is that anything but hypocrisy?
