How often do you diarrhea and vomit at the same time? I fear it's only a matter of time before I have this happen at work, where I'd just have to vomit on my lap. I never had this happen to me until 4-5 years ago but this sickness seems to happen at least once a year now. And yes, I did spend last night vomiting and shiting every hour or so.
Had this happen once. I didn't know where to barf. It was the middle of the night, so I blew Papa John's chunks into my shower, tried to hose down the drain with warm shower water. Finally, I went to bed thinking I'd clean it up in the morning. My wife woke up first, horrified.
I don't envy you. I think if this happens more than once a lifetime or so, it would be really good to consult a doctor and then a specialist. Maybe a severe food allergy or susceptibility to a certain bacteria. I'm old (see avatar), and this only happened to me once. Luckily, I had the foresight to bring an empty trash bucket with me to the john. My nerd girlfriend of the time asked it I created a perfect vacuum in my innards when vacating both ends like that. thanks. what a horrible feeling.
Much better now. 99% sure it was food poisoning, simply because it was hell for 36-48 hours with a sudden improvement. I think what happens is the food poisoning so throroughly ****s up my insides that I need to both V & D. Then, every subsequent D is accompanied by V because the D is so nasty it makes me V, thanks to my stomach being made weak from the initial V. Anyway, much better now. However I will never again buy HEB brand ice cream; that had to have been the cause.
best get some prescription drug breh. i was badly constipated once and took pills to fix it only to find out that the pill didn't sit well with my body. good thing i was on the toilet when i d&v'd.
No, I think it was the 50% off cookies I got from the cafeteria at my work. About an 60 minutes after those I started to feel bad, and about 30 minutes later the horror began.
Try reading up about probiotics and gut health. You might be craving more sugar than you should, and then exacerbating the problem by feeding sugar to the bacteria that's living in your gut. Not an expert, just something that worked for my brother.
I've only had once and that was my first trip to Thailand out of about 20. Eating raw veggies in foreign countries can really mess you up.
Yeaaaaah...there's a reason why perishable items get marked down like that. I have a worse, so much worse horror story involving red wine, coke and a pizza joint in Costa Rica.
Whataburger did it to me today. I think I'm on the rebound already (though still nauseous and ready for anything), but noon-7pm was not fun. @Mathloom my doc did recommend some steps for probiotic health, so I've been doing that. Perhaps that's what made this a much shorter episode. Also, fwiw, I went to get some screening done for a couple unrelated issues and both times found out that I was dehydrated. Not sure if it's because I do a poor job of hydrating myself or some other reason (probably the former). There's a product at most pharmacies now called Hydralyte that has been a big help for me. It's nothing magical: it's just a tablet that dissolves in water that has significantly more electrolytes* than Gatorade with none of the sugar. I highly recommend this product for anyone who occasionally gets dehydrated. *Yes I realize it sounds like I'm selling people an MLM scheme in Idiocracy, but it's a real product sold at real stores recommended by actual doctors. (BTW in reading through this thread I notice a common theme: I keep getting sick after eating **** foods. I should probably stop eating **** foods.)
Man usually I'm what I call an olympic pooper. Meaning, since I was a kid I'd generally poop perfectly. In and out of the bathroom in under 4 minutes. Well, a few days ago I had a cheat day and all I ate was 4 meals of junk. I'm talking fried chicken, burgers, ice cream, cupcakes, hotdogs, everything. Meanwhile it was a friend's birthday so we had been consuming booze too by the beach from noon onwards. Needless to say, by 1pm I had forgotten that water exists except in the form of ice. At around 9pm I was going through the same issues you're talking about, D&V'ed for a couple of hours before passing out from exhaustion. The ingredients: dehydration and junk. Definitely something to it. Also on the electrolytes, I've heard of people just having room temperature water with some sea salt on an empty stomach in the morning. Don't know if your supplement is doing more than that. The gut health thing is legit, that bad bacteria in your gut literally sends messages to your mind - and the messages are disguised as your mind - giving it all sorts of rationale for consuming any product that contains a lot of natural/unnatural sugar. I've been on this since I heard about it from my brother, it's definitely made my cravings for junk food (which I was addicted to) disappear. It's called gut-brain axis in case you're interested. It doesn't mean you won't ever decide to eat junk anymore, but it means your guts will not be ****ing with your brain about it.
I have had better luck with prebiotics versus probiotics. Prebiotics are essentially just fiber supplements, which feed the good gut bacteria or least that is the theory. Daily recommendations for fiber is 30g. I was lucky to get 15g. Now I get 60g and have seen improvement in my digestive health. FWIW. Edit:
