Those boys look super excited to play together. This will be the most scrutinized, yet most underrated signing of the entire NBA offseason.. I'm stoked!
When almost everyone was weary of Paul/Harden pairing, citing one ball etc, Mike and Darool believed it would because: 1) the players wanted it to work 2) the players were very talented and smart 3) valued winning I believe these same rules apply to the Melo signing. There’s a better chance of him becoming Olympic Melo here than anywhere else.
Yeah, Paul's intensity will rub off on Melo I feel like. If it does that can unlock another mentality. Paul got a lot of dog in him, if Melo got some of that dog...man watch out.
There was a little bit more synergy with the Paul/Harden combo though! You had the PG position at Houston as a defender and spot up shooter, not responsible for the ball until Harden sat. Paul not only provided more on the defence and shooting front than Beverley, he also provided a legitimate threat as distributor when Harden sat (see how badly we missed it in games 6/7!!) The pairing was almost a no-brainer in that it would work. Carmello is a little bit riskier because it means we need a little bit of system adjustment - he is so much more versatile than Ariza offensively, but we take a defensive hit. The defensive hit might be a bit overstated because of Tucker - last year Tucker got lumped with the 4s (and 5s in pure small ball lineups), I imagine they will be Anthony's job to start with - and Ariza tended to do a pretty poor job of bodying up in the post, so we might make some gains there which will offset the dropoff in perimeter defence (we'll be worse without Ariza, but not terrible)
Please god, give us a full healthy season of Rockets like you gave to Golden State p*****s in the past years. I am excited too! Even we still got some area to work on. I Want That Feeling Again!
Morey wanted to have the MLE available in case someone becomes available after a buyout. What makes you believe that Melo wasn't the one wanting a one year deal? The Rockets wouldn't have been able to offer him much money. It would make sense for him to take a one year deal.
Nope its easy run picks for all three until ome of them is on the other teams weakest defender. N iso. Raise wash get a chip
Air is humming ... West Side Story ... mystery solved... Westbrook. We're obviously trading Ryan Anderson's contract for him. Gives the Thunder outside shooting.
