Request: Does anybody remember David Letterman interviewing Matt Thomas?

    Matt Thomas is the current Rockets PA announcer, road play by play announcer, radio host for 790, etc.

    He was also the PA announcer back in 1994 and 1995. For some reason, he was interviewed via satellite by David Letterman during the Late Show during the NBA Finals back in ‘94 or ‘95.

    I remember seeing this video clip on YouTube or somewhere else online.

    Does anybody have any idea where to find this clip??

    It was aired on June 20, 1994 and was Episode 181 of Season 1. I haven't found it on video yet, but maybe this will help someone to find it.

    Well I know it exists somewhere because I've seen the video before just 2 or 3 years ago. I can't remember where I saw it. Been searching for it again but haven't had any luck.

    During the interview, you will find RoseV in the stand while he was a little kid.

    Also Morey was working there as an intern.

    Everything is just a setup in life, we are all living in Truman's world.

    I attended a wedding today for someone within the Rockets organization. He had Matt Thomas introduce the wedding party at the reception. No joke. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. So I immediately walked over to him (a little drunk). After doing my best 94-95 Matt Thomas impersonation ("ALL RIGHT, HOUSTON, ON YOUR FEET, AND PREPARE FOR ROCKETS LIFTOFF..."), I asked him about this footage for you. He took my email address and said to give him 3-4 days. We'll see what comes of it. Either way, I tried. :)

    Matt Thomas is an idiot. He likes to talk about things he has no clu about. Lost respect for him when he said Whiteside is an elite center kat is not. Obviously he only watches the rockets

    I remember Matt Thomas tweeting it out one time. Matt Thomas was chubby back in the day. Maybe Matt Thomas saved it.

    This year Letterman donated most of his Late Night videos , the set, and the Late Night sign to Ball State University's Bracken Library. Ball State is David Letterman's alma mater. Now that you have the episode, 6-20-1994, you can send a request to Ball State University, C/O Bracken Library, 2000 W University Ave, Muncie, IN 47306 for a copy of the episode or interview. :)

    Muncie is my birth and childhood town. I grew up with BSU and remember when David Letterman was the weather man in Indy when I was in high school. Muncie and BSU are ecstatic about David Letterman's donation.

    If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it happened the night before game 7. Letterman started the interview with something like “How are you guys doing down there in Houston?” to which Matt replied “We’re doing fantastic Dave. Come this time tomorrow night we’re going to be World Champions”.

    I have this. It involves Mujibur and Sirajul from Bangladesh interviewing Matt Thomas. Letterman has Thomas introduce the pair using the PA system of the arena.

    During the championship run I collected over 8 hours of video including this Letterman interview. If the above doesn't come through then let me know and we can arrange for me to get it to you. The quality is not pristine by any means (VHS to PC).

    Very cool! Matt emailed me today and said he was unable to locate the clip. He was bummed about it, so maybe send him the clip as well? I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it.
