The masochist in me is down for this scenario. I never get tired of this "wtf? why!?" feeling every year.
It's really simple for Morey. All he has to do is call CP3 and Harden and see if they are good with it. Ask them if they could make it work. If they say yes, then you get to work.
and yet in his whining he didn't say that. He talked about family, moving away, diminished role, etc It gets very tired to always blame everything on Westbrook. Melo is acting like he was sent off to the middle east to war.
I still think Melo would fit well here. He can do the "Olympic Melo" spot up for the corner three, he can set screens for Paul or Harder in the pick and roll, when Harden or Paul are off the court he can run his own secondary pick and roll or iso off switches. OKC just never got any offensive continuity last year, but part of what was incorporating him plus George into a Thunder team, where Westbrook had a nearly unprecedented usage rate the year before. He knows the MDA system, he is close with Paul (and to a lesser degree Harden), and he would also be on a much better team. The big issue here is the financial ramifications. You can't bring him here on the mid-level because that would mean goodbye to LMM. You have to find a way to get him in via trade without losing Gordon, which means you would need a third team involved. That would save the mid-level for Luc. If we had signed Ariza, this would be a no-brainer. Alas.
and its interesting, none of their FA's left okc this year. people keep putting all the blame on WB, system, etc. so is it really toxic over there
Why the hell not? We aren't beating Golden State with what we have now. Having another guy that can get his own shot would be nice when Harden isn't on the floor. He also shot the 3 at a similar % to Ariza last year. Carmelo was at 35.7% compared to 36.8% for Ariza.
I would be shocked if OKC takes on $50M in salary in exchange for $27M given their cap situation. Anderson to OKC doesn't work unless we take back equivalent 2 year salary. Hard to find a trade that makes sense for that.
There is a report that damian lillard is pushing for a trade to lakers if that happens melo might go to lakers
That means he really dont want to win, he already made 27M from OKC. We are his best chance to win a title, but this is melo he loves his moneyyyy.
We should have beaten GS last year with what we have now minus Ariza. If you retain Capela and Luke and replace Ariza with an equivalent player, we're just as competitive. Not sure why people don't get this.
they'll have some small savings by trading him to Houston but they'll buyout or stretch Anderson instead.. Nene as well.
