With conflicting reports of Klay not wanting to take a pay cut to stay in Oakland and the fact it would be a lot easier to trade Anderson’s contract with one year left. I dont think we should extend EG either instead just position ourselves to be in on the Klay bidding.

    1. It weakens the Warriors
    2. Klay with Harden and CP3 setting him up is insane to even think about
    3. He fits defensively.

How are we gonna get Klay exactly?

    Thoughts and prayers.

We won't have the money to pay him the max. We've tied the franchise to Harden and Paul with a combined salary of $80 million a year.

We won't have room to sign him and he's either going to stay with the Warriors or he'll go to L.A, maybe to the Clippers (with his daddy West).

So even with Anderson and EG off the books we still can’t afford him? There is no way to position ourselves to bid on him? Just a genuine question no need for the smart ass stuff

No. You'd have to unload Anderson, EG, Tucker and maybe Capela without taking back salary to have the room.

Harden and Paul make too much money.

Appreciate it. So essentially to add another star to this roster it has to be via trade? Ouch

Everybody who despises the Warriors in general, Klay is the only one we ‘like’

Somewhere there's a "What, were you born yesterday?" joke to be had here but then I see OP's join date.

Gross. I don't want any of those Warrior douchebags. We are a better team than they are without any of that nonsense.

We can just ask them to take Ryno, Gordon, and picks like our hypothetical offer for Bron right?

Real talk if we sign Capela, which seems likely, we could use him as a very valuable trade piece if say Zhou Qi becomes starter quality

For any new third piece not just Klay

The cap will rise, by how much? Don't know. We don't even know if we're keeping Capela. Signs point to yes but if he's insulted by our offer and accepts the QO and pulls a Nerlens Noel on us, we have to patch up the center spot. But if that happens Capela is off the books (7 mill cap hold min) and Ryno is at about 20 mill, Gordon at 13, then deduct how much we're committed over the cap as of now, we should have plenty of money. Whats his max going to be?

While I think he's a system fit I don't think he can consistently play the 3, meaning Harden would have to. Can they defend against the KDs and Giannis, and Lebrons of this era? Would be tough. I don't doubt he's a good player but I dont agree with 100 million tied up in guards.
