That doesn't work on his type of contract and Rockets don't have cap space to make an offer.

Id like to reiterate this is why in the last thread you questioning me telling you tillman is going to pay luxury tax is ridiculous. You dont even know how nba contracts work. We dont even have cap space to submit an offer to someone like that. We cant sign them. The fact you seem to not even know that simple of a concept and lecturing people who have studied and looked over the current situation the rockets are in is stunning.

So you telling me Im basically delusional that tillman will retain ariza but you dont even know we cant make an offer of substance to aaron gordon? You see why Im skeptical of your opinions?

If you view spotrac Houston Rockets you can see the cap holds:
    CP3 $35.4M
    Ariza $12.9M
    Capella $7M
    GG $1.5M
    Luc MaM $1.5M

Read it closely....because Houston is currently under the cap, the cap holds don't count against their salary cap total.

So currently at $87.1M team salary
    Minus trade Nanu $1.6
Minus Aaron Jackson $1.4 (non guaranteed)
Minus Ryan Anderson $12M (thru stretch provision)

    Equals $71M

Aaron Gordon tenure in league nets him a contract of $26 M on the avg.

Rockets could offer that and not have to guy the team. Re_sign CP3, Ariza, Capela
after. Or force a SnT with Orlando.

You have a better chance of getting Orlando to take Ryno/Tucker/Eric Gordon
in SnT than LeBron and his $35 that would require all 3 for a Cavs deal.

Wouldnt even need to do SnT Ryno. If we stretch provision him Ryno. Then we can go over luxury tax we roster set with team more or less intact plus Aaron Gordon, CP3 Capella. Just take a hit of 5 yrs of Ryno contract in stretch.

I could be wrong but I am nearly positive cap holds do count against the cap. Unless we renounce them, but then we lose their rights.

You are correct, cap holds do count against the cap and if you renounce them, you lose their rights.

Cap holds absolutely count against the cap.

You can renounce and lose all rights though.

So in you’re scenario you lose CP3, Clint, Ariza, Ryan...

But get Aaron Gordon are $26 million a year!!!

    Cap holds count, sorry.
That’s why it’s so hard to get LBJ. If cap space was open we could easily move Gordon and have enough to sign lebron then resign our FA over the cap.

It’s one of the basic fundamentals of the salary cap.

Cap holds count against your cap space. The Rockets cannot get under while keeping bird rights to their players.

Yeah we have several people who aren’t taking the time to read the CBA just a little. I’m no expert but if you read the basics it goes a long way in realizing what’s possible, what’s not.

Lmao cap holds are a thing for a reason. They most certainly count against your cap total. Learn what they are. All of what you said is pretty much wrong.

Please go and make those top 10 lists or something. Grown ups are talking now. :p

But what if you were dyslexic, blind and the teacher hated your guts? Are you really gonna cry about an A when you still have a B+?

Everything has to be put in context first of all everybody was writing off the Rox before the season started, everybody was saying OKC was the real deal and Harden Cp3 was gonna flame out. Right out of the season if you told everybody the Rox would lose to GSW in a game 7 by 9 pts because CP3 was out everybody was gonna call you insane. Ever hear of the term SMART objective? We basically met our SMART objective, it is just not realistic to expect a team with just 2 superstars to beat a team with 4 superstars, two of whom happen to be universally considered to be in the top 3. Sure the Rox were THIS close to it, but in a 7 game series the better team was gonna win and the team with 4 superstars is better than the team with 2 superstars.

So while the end is disappointing, that shouldn't be enough to make the whole season disappointing. Only idiots would think the whole season was disappointing given the context of who the Rox are and who they just fought.

I didn't say the cap holds are removed. I saiid In my scenario the Rockets would clear money by stretching Runo and waiving Aaron Jackson (team option) and trading Chinanu. That gets Houston to an amount where they can offer Aaron Gordon $26 mil. Takes the Rockets to about $97 Million. That's under the Soft cap of $101 million.

Doubt Rockets can pull it off. Still much better a plan that stupid LeBrob scrnariot people have been pushing here.
