I mean it's just Harden being Harden. I have accepted the fact that he has weird mental lapses in the playoffs and his IQ goes to Wesbrookish. I think when his shot doesn't fall and he gets blocked at the rim his brain just shuts down.
He got away with it tonight cause of CP3 and Capela playing like the second coming but there’s no way anybody is bailing him out against a loaded Warriors.
Looks like the concern was LEGIT. He went full r****d on a number of plays, especially in the second half.
I actually think he might've been concussed. He was poor shooting, passing the ball, taking care of the ball & atrocious defensively. Looked like a total mess out there. Idiots are already kneejerking but he's been excellent throughout the Playoffs until tonight.
There was definitely a similar trajectory to when he got hit in the head last playoffs. He seems to be ok at making lay ups and shooting FTs after getting hit in the head, but his 3pt shooting and ball protection go out. That is what to watch for. When driving and shooting FT he can think his way through it while driving/standing at the line. But any split second decision making he has to do becomes sloppy. This is what I watch for, hopefully he can make it through the next game without any further hits to the head and he will have awhile to recover after that pending a win. It doesn't look as bad as last year either way.
Definitely my impression, he just didnt look right at all. I'm not sure he could have hit shots into a ring 50% larger from 3 He was throwing passes basically to the defender, or the fans.
Also, the way he was repeatedly yelling at Capela, after the game ended... definitely looked concussy.
I totally agree. My question is if the trainers are seeing this and are letting him play through this knowing he might have a concussion or concussion symptoms
He'll get one of his girls to take care of it when he comes home from Utah..... oh wait we're talking about the other head... he will be fine but he definitely didn't look all there tonight. He's got a couple days before game 5 and he'll be ok. We just have to close it out. 3/1 leads are never a sure thing.
I was hoping that he was relieved that he got bailed out. Either way I think he’ll have a killer game 5 and close out the series.
The trainers are on the court with the players, also probably not concussion specialists themselves. It's not like in the NFL where you have a specific concussion spotter in the press box who can notify and demand a player gets examined.
My big question is if the trainers are seeing this and are letting him play through this knowing he might have a concussion or concussion symptoms
I'm pretty sure I'm the only Neurologist on ClutchFans. I've had training in sports Neurology, concussions and TBI. Game 3 Harden hit his head pretty hard on the floor. The fact that Harden has a past history of concussions is his biggest risk factor for having future ones. Ron artest elbow and Pau gasol elbow in game 5 last yr. There is a chance he has some element of post concussive syndrome, but the various neurological symptoms greatly vary from person to person, injury to injury and location of the blow. After the hit, I knew today as going to be a subpar game (24 pt 4 stl is somehow sub par, hilarious). I was analyzing him from a neurological perspective for cues like that of game 6. I didn't find he was ataxicnornhaving trouble focusing. Nothing overt, yet I'm willing to bet he has a different game tonight if that fall never happened. With that being said, I'm rooting for the pels to get 1 more so that there is some time to recover if this all is true, as it is certainly a possibility. If y'all have any questions, I'll be happy to answer. GO ROCKETS!
Do you think Harden should be doing better by Tuesday? Do you think the trainers should have picked up on the symptoms
I just think it's kind of concerning that this could be his second year in a row of thim trying to play through a concussion
