I'm down for this. Now that the trade deadline has passed, might as well experiment a little. I thought Luc's lack of volume 3 point shooting would hurt the starting lineup, but he does so many other thing to compensate. Start Luc, or play him more minutes when Ariza comes back. Ariza should never play 35+ minutes again.
Luc is willing to shoot the 3, but he's also cool to just do the small stuff and let Harden and CP3 iso people to tears.
I really don't care who starts. But our best lineup is Paul/Harden/Luc/Ariza/Capela, and unless Anderson gets his mind right it's not close. Part of me likes the changeup factor not starting them together provides. Start Anderson like normal, but at some point later in the game if it's still tight throw out the deathgrip unit and suddenly ramp up defensive coverage.
Ariza just needs rest, which he's finally getting now. Also, he plays a lot of minutes with Anderson and Harden, which I'm sure hurts his defensive rating. If you insert him into the lineup with Tucker as the starting PF, we will be just fine.
i really want luc to get more minutes and start. he or ariza guard the other team's pf depending on matchups. ryan still plays over half the game but not 30-35, at least not regularly. i dont buy this floor spacing thing from him. looks good on paper, but he's way too inconsistent for a starter on a contender
Anderson job is to knock down open threes, not to pass up wide open threes. His job is to shoot the dang ball. Has he lost his shooting stroke in practice, and the reason he hesitates? So if his confidence is down, yes go ahead and bench him, and put in Luc!
Luc's ability to dribble and drive compensates for his relative lack of shooting (which is pretty OK.) Overall, I think he should get more minutes over Ariza.
Legitimately the best perimeter defender in the league right now and fits so well into the offense. Such a smart player. I genuinely want this guy to get a fat contract this summer. Dude is the third best player on a team that would shoot for the win record if healthy. He deserves more. He DEFINITELY needs to get the most minutes of any non-Harden/CP3 player. I don't worry about starting much. CP3 essentially comes off the bench it feel at times. But hey 34 MPG usually. Luc needs 30 MPG.
Look at all these knowitalls! We are 47-13. I think whatever we are doing is working. Stop coaching from the couch.
The Rockets are only every truly dominant when Luc gets big minutes. He's second in he team in per possession +/-. He's trotting out a ridiculous +56 in the last 4 games in LIMITED minutes.
