Yes he's over the hill, but like others have said he's earned the right to do this as long as he wants. He's a legend. Bill and Calvin were the best Rockets commentary duo ever.
Bill is great. If you can't enjoy a Rockets game because of the announcer, you ain't much of a Rockets fan.
I think his role for just home games is perfect, he’s a lot more enthusiastic on big plays than 70% of others.
I love bill but he has to go and take clyde with him! If i hear another ariza for threeza or nene with the nenasty one more time...
Father time catches up with everyone and it has caught up with Bill. His mistakes are constant and at the 9.32 mark of the 2nd Qtr in the Dallas game his gaffe not knowing that Robert "Tractor" Traylor passed away and making jokes is inexcusable. The Rockets owe his family an apology. It's okay not to know but joking about it wasn't. Do better Bill!!
I've been watching this team longer than (or at least as long as) any of you, and I think it's time Bill called it a day. My dream: We win it all this year and Bill takes the opportunity to retire with pride. I love the guy, but I'm so tired of hearing chestnuts like: * how good/bad his/Clyde's golf games are * how much pie he or Bullard can eat * "That wasn't even a foul back in your day, was it, Clyde?" * "You never stretched or taped your ankles, did you, Clyde?" etc. I'd like to see Clyde retire with him, too.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/defense Defense is a verb. And you're right... when people don't know the english language it's annoying.
I wouldn't mind Craig being added to the home games and push Clyde out. Let Bill, Craig and Bull do their thing. Maybe put Clyde on the sideline. Then slowly let Craig do more of the talking until Bill becomes the third guy type. The important thing... Matt Bullard is fantastic!
I think he's doing fine while he ages into his senile years. Maybe i am bias because it's difficult to imagine Rockets games called by someone else permanently. Nostalgia does play a part. If you heard a lot of the other legends before they retired, they were much worse. Constantly talking about the good ole days and how those players at the time didn't measure up. They too got names wrong all the time. I think old Tom Heinoshn still calls Celtics games. He's horrible.
There's no way in hell I'd watch/listen to Ackerman and Bull for a full season together... But it would make me attend more home games to avoid them...
I love Bill on our broadcasts so much I don’t even notice all the crap deficiencies these kids point out. A lot of memories with Bill. Growing up watching games on non-cable stations, championships, 3’s from every suburb around Houston, what school ol’ dude is out of, what’s not to love.
