Nothing is going to change in the lower bowl, the "club sections" that are noticeable on TV are so damn expensive, only corporate people buy them and it's up to them to show up. At the Compaq Center, there was no special Club area to get to those sections, so fans, I'm guilty of this, can go down and sit in that area. Fwiw, previous years, you get a autograph team ball if you got perfect attendance for STH, they changed it this year where you have to be in your seat before tip off 80% of the time to get the team ball. Last year, I got screwed on my "perfect attendance" autograph ball because it was a team ball from the 15-16 season instead of 16-17, it was blatantly obvious cause it had Dwight and Marcus Thorton's autographs on them. I don't mind the food there but go the Atlanta Falcons route. Keep your gourmet offerings at it's price, but have basic food cheaper, like popcorn, hot dogs, nachos for less than $5. This would give me incentive to get the games even earlier so I don't have to eat before outside the arena before the game. Have more interactive stuff on the lower bowl, I feel there is so much space being wasted with all the cars there. I get it's the Toyota Center, but you don't have to show off EVERY car that you manufacture, have 1 car, 1 truck, 1 SUV, and rotate the type of models every 3-4 months, can't be that hard right? Have more adult themed STH gatherings, it's great as is if you have kids, but people like @Kam and I don't have children to bring (well me at least, not sure about Kam....) I missed the opening night Bud Light parties, casino XMas themed party they had the first years I was a season ticket holder. I fill out the surveys every time I get them with my frustrations, the only thing they've delivered on was the free refills on souvenir cups since I stressed that the Astros/Texans and other NBA arenas did it, and they were the only ones that didn't.
A lot of people are talking about the lower bowl's lack of bodies. I propose that for every person who buys season tickets, they download an app on their phone and on game day the app simply asks you "are you going to the game tonight?" if so, "do you need all the seats?" If you select "no", then those seats can go a couple different routes. You can do the super sweet charitable thing and those seats can go to, say, the Boyscouts/Girlscouts. Or they could be put back on the market, but for cheaper. No matter how cheap those tickets are sold for, more money is being made on seats that have already been sold, allowing for the price to be lower. The key is to make it super easy for people with a bunch of season tickets to put other people in them. Problem solved.
Sooo true, I don't care who you are, please act like you're enjoying the game. However, the Rocket games are str8 boring though!
Cool theory, but these rich fu**s aren't going to check in on their app every game, or any game for that matter. These corporate douches have those seats locked up and only 'grace' TC with their presence when its a GS/playoff game etc.
I sat front row at a Warriors game last year. Lot of Rockets love from James & Beverley. Mutual face from the scene here in Houston so we had some laughs before n during the game. Those guys at Oracle are nuts. I was getting cussed out once we lost the lead with 3 min left. Lol. What do you expect.... it’s Oakland!!!
Everyone is talking about the food... come to Portland talk about terrible food. By far the worst. Scratch that I am now in San Diego...home of where it all started...
I know this is something that they wouldn't change, and I know that I may be one of only a few to complain about this but, the rows in the upper bowl are too narrow. My knees are not the best and I can't sit in the upper bowl at all. I can only go to like 2 Rockets games a year and only to lousy opponents because I only go to games I can afford lower bowl seats (which are usually less than face value). I don't have a problem at either Minute Maid or Reliant in the upper areas just at Toyota Center.
It's unlikely that Tilman will actually make the effort to change the lower seats to be only sold to regular fans over corporate buyers. He should however add somewhere in the ticket stipulation/requirement that the owner of the tickets needs to be there before the 2nd quarter or their seat will be exchanged with someone else's. It's pretty terrible that we have to see so many empty seats down there, especially when its a nationally televised game. ALSO we need do something about replacing Clyde, Matt and whoever. He needs to seriously pay JVG or put Calvin Murphy back in there. Murphy didn't deserve to be pulled from his position because of his families accusations. The man has served his due diligence and has worked his way back to being on the air. I really can't stand our terrible commentators when I watch games, there's no real substance or draw that keeps me interested in terms of their conversation. JVG JVG JVG!
Fix the on court lighting to a more modern white LED light and dim the seat lighting so that the focus is on the court. (Similar to Staple Center) Change that stupid looking R logo. Change those ugly ass uniforms. Bring back our original Red/Yellow color scheme. Make the arena seating a little closer, it’s very wide and far. If you look at Oracle or even the old SAC arena the seating was super close to the court you felt/feel a lot closer to the court. The Summit had a similar feel to it bc it only had 2 levels, now Toyota center has 3 levels that are super high and what seems to be miles away from the court that it feels empty. Tillman needs to make a more compact arena that feels packed and is loud like The Summit. I HATE TC.
Change seating to first come first serve in your section. You buy a seat for a section and you get to choose the row and seat you sit in. People will show up early to get good seats
Change the lighting to be like MSG or Staples center. I love it that way plus it will hide our pathetic empty seat problem.
I'm glad someone gave me the chance to voice my opinion on this matter. Now one thing I really can't stand is the amount of crowd activity during timeouts. Granted all it mostly is is paid employees with large breasts etc. etc. etc. dancing, but it does show random people quite often as well. There's no way in the world you will ever get me attending games knowing that I might be put on camera in front of not only all of American but half the world. Who in their right mind thinks that's a good idea? You wouldn't catch me dead in that arena. It's a terrible marketing tactic. Who is even going to enjoy that? Kids? Kids don't pay for tickets! And the kiss cam . . . don't even get me started. Never caught dead in that arena. Also, I noticed one of the options was ticket prices. One of the things that really bugs me about the NBA is the owner's charge us working class and lower middle-class citizens as much money as they possibly can to get as rich as they possible can and for the players/owners/management/coaches to make far more money than they need to. It's absurd. Lower the prices instead of charging the working class as much as possible to watch games. It's an evil system. And somehow these elites have managed to convince the working class citizens that they are watching players who are filthy rich but deserve every cent. My gosh, what is wrong with people. Are they really that thick in the skull? They're just completely oblivious to the world around them.
I thought about doing "standing room only" al la Astros, if the corp. bozos don't arrive 2 mins before half time the line for standing room only goes down. You lost your seat to a real fan. I don't know where you could have the standing room only ticket holders, or the price for it, but say its like 500 people a game. Not everyone is guaranteed a lower bowl ticket or upper bowl for that matter. But you would be in the arena... If someone in your party is running late they can send the tickets via flashseats to get scanned so that they won't lose their seat. One would basically have to go out of their way to make sure the tickets aren't filled. I suppose some corp. aholes would scan tickets knowing they wouldn't use all of them so that they wouldn't have to sit next to the proles, but I don't think many would even know or realize. It doesn't solve the tipoff problem, I honestly do not know how that can be fixed without just gutting corp. and overpriced tickets, which wont happen. Rockets/Toyota Center get to "double sell" tickets....win for them Unused Tickets get filled with more fan that are more than likely gonna get loud....win for us Just my 2 cents.
