A Perfect Circle sandwiched right between Migos and Cardi B. Donald Trump is president and talking about how big his nuclear button is on Twitter. Hello 2018
Shitty headliners. A perfect circle and David Byrne are the only two things worth traveling for. The rest of the lineup has good acts mixed in, they are just the same bands playing every festival
Man, you guys are old as dirt. Minus Eminem the headliners are mostly attracting the younger crowd. I'd go just to see his act... but only if he was performing his classics none of his more recent albums cause they were mostly trash.
that is weak. they must have blown all their money booking beyonce and eminem b/c the rest of that line-up makes it look like they arent even trying. the three day music festival is overkill. they have to water it down so much to fill up the slots that they just book all these bands nobody cares about. its a money-grab for coachella...they can put whatever crappy bands out there and its still going to sell out. ACL too - that started off as two days and it was quality acts throughout the day. now its three days and two weekends and a bunch of lame bands. this is going to sound hipster-douchey, but if you compare the recent line-ups with what they were doing 10-15 years ago its much more mainstream now. i went in 2004 when it was only two days. recently reunited pixies and radiohead headlining saturday and on sunday the cure, flaming lips (wayne crowd surfing in the bubble for the first time) and air (sounding like epic version of pink floyd with texan earl harvin on drums). throughout the day there were multiple options every hour. quantity over quality is the norm with music festivals now. plus, im old. get off my lawn.
QFT. Same for ACL and Roo. Last time I went to Coachella was 2014. Now that was a fantastic lineup! Straight fire the whole weekend.
They are clearly catering to the younger generation. I saw lots of these bands for free at SXSW back in the day
Have you even read Pitchfork lately? Apparently Cardi B songs are the pinaccle of music these days. WTF happened to the scene?
I've never heard of anyone going to Coachella for any reason other than to get ****ed up. Pretty sure they are not trying to appeal to music snobs, thats not what this is for. Coachella is about being seen and partying
I'll disagree, for music nerds Coachella used to be known for having unreal lineups. Often acts that wouldn't be playing anywhere else would decide to play Coachella. I went every year from 2008-2011, but started losing interest as I got older and the lineups became less unique. It will always hold a special place for me and it is (or was) something I'd recommend everyone go check out at least once if they have the chance. It's an absolutely beautiful setting to watch music in for a couple days. Sadly I think the crowds it attracts now have probably put a dent in how "special" the whole experience can be - by crowds I mean both the sheer number of people, and the fact that for many of the attendees the music is secondary.
