I was in Virginia this past weekend for a wedding, wore my Astros cap everywhere I went. I was getting so much love from strangers. I met people from California (LA!), Canada, DC, and all of them told me how much they enjoyed watching the Astros win the World Series. Feels so good.
I reckon it's like how a lot of NBA fans are rooting for the 76ers right now. I've gotten a lot of love too out here in LA wearing my gear (my car has some gear too!).
Don't forget we also shut up the mangy ranger fans. I work close to Dallas area and have had to deal with mangy ranger fans for awhile now. I didn't use to hate the rangers but as soon as they made that first world series it was like their inner cowboys/mavs fan light turned on. I couldn't believe how douchey they got...should have known I guess. You would have thought the world was gonna end the day after we won game seven. It was extremely satisfying to end their playoff chances emphatically at the end of the season and to win the world series to shut them up.
I mean, we have our own reasons to beat the Mets but I dont see their fans being douchey as one of them.... I mean, what do they really have their hat to hang on? If anything, I feel bad for the current Mets fans. **** the cubs!
It feels so good to pull my old Astros hat out of the closet and so proudly wear it around. I've had it since maybe 2004. It just feels awesome to wear!
Just re-watched the 2011 WS gm6 highlights (& then 2017 gm5). Must've been rough for Ranger fans being 1 strike away from a title TWICE and then losing it. One thing, whether it was with us or the Cards Lance B. was such a clutch hitter. He brought it in both WS he played in. Now we're champs as well. GO STROS!!!
I hadn't been wearing it because I tend to wear 2 Texans caps that fit better. It's nice to come back around to a hat I wore more often in college, before those 2.
