Per Woj, NYK have made formal offer for Kyrie Irving.

As Melo is not waiving his NTC to Cavs, this offer should not send him to Cavs, but it's likely involve him for matching salary.

NYK may offer the players they can get from Melo-Ryan three team trade talk, plus young players and future picks, if Cavs think NYK has the best offer and decide to send Kyrie to New York, Melo can be a Rocket.

this is such weird thinking. You're just being a contrarian to disagree with everyone. The Lou Williams for a 1st rounder trade validated that he was wrong. Wiliams was/is a playmaker...and we gave up a 1st rounder for him....which everyone agrees was Bev's value at the time ... now it's a little bit higher

Trading for Paul has nothing to do with wanting to change styles of play at the backup PG spot. Come on. Not the same. It's a major coup.

How can you compare the Paul trade, and say it's validation, while flat out not even mentioning the Lou Williams for a 1st rounder trade. Like I say, only a contrarian looking to disagree with everyone makes a comparison like that.

 

Not to mention Lou Williams for a 1st confirmed Morey wasn't shopping Bev for a lateral change at the backup PG position. Williams was a trade in the conversation of needing another guard playmaker that many were discussing.

So, not only was it wrong to say 99% of the board was against another guard who could create, but we actually made the trade, and it proved Bev was not being considered, because we gave up a 1st for him.

inb4: no that trade was all about dumping Brewer. lulz.

Until we get more news, we are just speculating on past fake news, going off topic, or beating the dead horse about how much we all want melo.

I think it's absolutely fair to say that they wanted to get a PG who could take playmaking duty burdens from Harden for at least part of the time. Holic is probably right the team knew they couldn't rely on Harden as a full time PG, the turnovers were too burdensome and the load was too much for him.

Where I think he was absolutely wrong is the idea that the Rockets were looking to move Beverly and shopping him hard. Morey loves Bev and so does coach. They wouldn't have traded him for Rubio. If they had wanted to do that it could have happened at any time.

 

And we made that trade.....Lou for a 1st. And we did it the year before with Lawson. Both validate that Bev was not worth trading for a lateral move for style-change at PG. We have to talk in the realm of Bev's value here. If we up the value of the receiving player coming back making it a 5-player trade, then that's a different conversation.

We also went for Bazemore. So, we clearly also wanted another, younger Ariza ... and hope he becomes a wing creator. We also wanted to resign DMo. On and on.

We made the Trade for a guard who could create. And we are acting like we didn't. And we are acting like Paul validates that we wanted Rubio. sigh
