[Poll] Why do you want Melo?

I am not in the "don't want Melo" camp, but I am skeptical that he is that big an upgrade given the shaky fit of his midrange game in a D'Antoni system. I'm in the "don't give up too much more than Ryan Anderson and a pick for him" camp.

He is definitely better than Ryan Anderson.

 

To move the damn needle, that's why.

 

Lebron is a huge upgrade.

 

Surprised seeing all the posts and votes that are in favor of getting Melo. It wasn't fun watching him on the Knicks this past season as he still commands the ball as if he's a superstar except he no longer is one. Couple that with the fact he's already had problems with D'antoni and it's a recipe for disaster. He can still score but outside of that he hurts the team in every other way.

 

well it's obvious at this stage, he can't be your best player on a winning team but as a 3rd player, talent wise you can't get much better unless you're the GSW.

 

I think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption that due to the fact that he's waiving his no-trade clause, he's completely on board with coming here to be the 3rd piece for a championship team. He's not coming here to be the star, and I sincerely doubt he's going to demand the ball every time down the court. Chris Paul and James Harden are both WAY too cerebral to allow someone else to dictate where they go with the basketball. And as far as MDA goes, it's been said about 4000 times that the two of them have hashed out their differences, and are totally ready to work together again. Like I said, this move gets the needle to jump in a big way.

 

I vote no.With or without Melo we are 3-4 team in west.Even with LBJ next year we are 3 team in west.Only way we go to final next few years without 2 best players in league Kwahi and Durant is pair Harden with KAT or with Healthy Davis.

Good points and an optimistic outlook but I have a hard time believing he'll fit in based off his career and in particular the last two years. I think his best role at this point would be a guy off the bench that could spark the offense (see Manu) but I can't see him doing that. I also don't see him being effective at all unless he's the number 1 or 2 guy. I just don't believe Melo in his 16th? year in the league is going to help the team. If anything I think he's going to hurt the team. The only thing he's good at in year 16 is scoring by dominating the ball and the shot clock. He's not effective off the ball. That's only going to take away from Harden and Paul.

We got swept by the Warriors in the playoffs last time we played them, we got hosed by the Warriors in this past season. Status-quo ain't going to win against a souped up team unless we become a souped up team. If Melo don't work, guess what we move on just like DHo. As long as the Rockets suit up players who can maximize scoring and have team unity, we can beat an All-Star team by the Bay. Better try when we have the chance of getting key players. Lebron will not say it, but I'm sure if Melo becomes Rockets, he'd be envy of Harden.
