I don't know what it achieved for him to bring up the meddling. Putin denies it, and he says "Alright, next topic." He probably wouldn't have bothered to bring it up if there wasn't so much pressure, including from the highly politicized media, for him to do so. From all indications, its only important to him insofar as it makes him look bad.
The people who already had "I don't believe the liberal media" bumperstickers are the ones proclaiming the end of "the lamestream media" because of CNN's actions. I'm sure CNN is completely destroyed at losing your trust and the trust of all Trumpies everywhere, given the high regard you held them in beforehand. You already thought they were dispicable liberal liars, what's changed?

Fact is, it really doesn't matter, does it? Fox News spent 8 years exaggerating things about Obama, liberals spent 8 years saying Fox is fake news basically, Fox is still around. People are going to stay in their echo chambers, they really don't care if you continue to call CNN fake and fraudulent, they trust CNN more than rightwing news sources. I would say it's all irrelevant, with any other president it would be, but with Trump, there is some effort to eliminate our free press. I'm just surprised so many people have gathered behind him like a flock and think it's a good idea...oh all while claiming they are free speech advocates. That speech is free as long as you praise Trump. If you don't, you are fake news and need to be abolished.
Trump challenging the press isn't trying to eliminate it. Its out of the ordinary for a president but not the malicious activity CNN and others claim The free press claimed this guy cheated. So why shouldn't he challenge them They gave him no shot, claimed credible sexual assault accusations were coming while he is challenging a woman, etc etc etc
Unfortunately, this is more than just CNN. It's about any news organization that dares to say anything negative about him. This whole war on fake news is just a war on opposing views.

No, not yet at least, but it is an attempt at doing so. We also have veritas running sting operations trying to discredit the press and did you see what Rachel Maddow reported? That someone tried to trick her into reporting a fake story? Likely to discredit her later no doubt. This whole war on the press is to discredit and shame them to water down their message...oh, and it doesn't happen to those in the press that praise or defend everything he does. It may not be putting journalists in jail but it is a level below that. Obama or Bush never waged war on their enemies in the press this way. Trump is trying to control the message. He wants everyone to not watch any network or read any sites that may not align with him. Meanwhile, Obama was doing interviews with Fox News.

No, the press did challenge Bush. Constantly. The same stations that Trump claims are fake news are the same ones that went after Bush...constantly. But really man, this isn't new. All that crap about Obama...birthers, Benghazi, all that stuff...he never tried to discredit the media like Trump is doing now.
