per his podcast with simmons and today's post from feigen... Morey is now hunting for a minimum contract to add and will hold onto the non guaranteed deals and the bae
Main, I in no way came away from listening to that podcast with your thread title in mind. Nowhere close. He so looking to work out something big, if he can. As others have pointed out, he might be bluffing about the "TPE", because a lot of that value in trade goes away as each contract becomes guaranteed. Kelly (the biggest one) guarantees in a few days, for instance. Sure, any of them that are still just one more year qualify as have similar value to expiring contracts at the deadline no matter if they are guaranteed or not, but I think Morey was partly just bluffing. Bottom line though: I didn't get any feeling like he was going to go into the season with all those NG players.
this is what some of us were saying last offseason. But i don't begrudge Morey his mistakes. that was a mistake, but the overall body of work with Morey has been really solid.
For now. Things can/may change once the season actually starts. There are much worse things than going into the season with CP3, Harden, Ariza, Ryno, and Capela as our starting lineup with Ego, Tucker, and Nene as our bench.
that some us includes yours truly. i actually thought maybe morey knew he was on his way out and was enacting a scorched earth policy with that ridiculous fuking signing
I wouldn't necessarily call it a mistake. If GSW didn't completely hose the cap increase, Anderson's contract would have looked a LOT better this offseason. It is what it is.
He said we will probably keep our powder dry and go into the season with the tpe and the bae in tact. Feigen then tweeted saying the same thing and added that morey is looking for a minimum contract to add. Now of course he's always looking for a big deal if it's out there
i just don't understand the lack of accountability. It was a bad contract in any parallel universe; any alternative reality or alternate future. No one in their right mind thought that was anything, but overpaying for Ryan Anderson, who is basically a 1-dimensional player. Morey gambled and he lost. Anderson was probably the smallest fraction responsible for last year's success relative to anyone else we brought in or any of the other moves we made last offseason. Anderson was a mistake, plain and simple; as evidenced by the fact that he is viewed across the league as a negative asset with his contract. now maybe he gets it together and improves this coming season. But right now, he's a massively overpaid guy who is inconsistent at the one thing he's being massively overpaid to do. And we are hamstrung with our cap as a result. MISTAKE!
I know he said that, but he can't. Thus, he's not making CBA sense, therefore some of us think he's bluffing The TPE loses roughly $2.6m of its value July 7th, Kelly. It loses more every time one of the NGs becomes guaranteed.
