The same situation happened for 5 or 6 times.

I think he got frustrated in the 4th quarter because he could NOT get the freaking ball when he had perfect positions.

Yeah, Yao's defense is a little bit soft tonight. But don't you think our guard got penetrated a little bit too easy? How many times Nash pass SF and face Yao one on one. If Yao took charge everytime, he would have fouled out in 3rd QT.

Remember fans, despite having a good record, the Rockets are still learning to play JVG style. There will be bumps and step backs like this so don't get too high or too low when Rockets win or lose. You will suffer ulcers if you do.

how funny.. just last week, everyone was saying how great cat was.. and after this game, people are bashing him already? wth?

yes, we lost because we caused a lot of stupid turnovers, but cat wasn't the only one who "took ridiculous shots and can't pass." i remember seeing francis, yao, padgett, mooch, etc doing it too.

I feel the same way. Yao played a very weak game (Get your body closer to the basket!!!) and Francis single handedly screwed up at least 4 fast break opportunities.

The team just couldn't get it done, Yao got his touches but didn't make point blank range shots and two times shawn bradley forced a turnover. Steve got selfish , Cat got inconsistent, Cato couldn't deal with Dirk's quickness. So the team got emotional and forced everything. Tomorrow when we win aganist the suns everything will be forgotten.

You must have read my mind earlier. I was thinking that Yao needs to stay in the USA during the offseason to soak in some good 'ole American bull headedness and attitude, or confidence, whatever you'd like to call it. Yao can't really do that during the season, too little off time. ;)

A couple possessions were very telling:

    1) Yao is posted with decent position, not surrounded at all. Cat has the ball, but instead of passing to Yao, he decides to drive right to where Yao is trying to post. Result: turnover.

    2) similar situation, Yao posted up with Dirk on him, 8 seconds left on the shot clock. Steve pretends like he is considering a pass to Yao, then decides to dribble a bit, and ends up shooting an offbalance jumper off the side of the backboard as time expired.

Whats even more frustrating was when Yao would finally receive a pass, but he would let Sean freakin bradley tip the ball away. Just use your ass, man. Just very frustrating to watch.

Kerr said it very well: even when they zone, you still gotta give it to the big man to collapse the defense further. Then again, the bigman has to catch the ball. The fastbreaks were just awful. Steve set a new record for botched 3 on 1 and 2 on 1 fast breaks. Pathetic. He had Boki wide open filling the lane, and just looked the other way, forcing a tough shot against dirk. He flat out ignored him. At least give Boki the opportunity to fail.

    i noticed that too.

off hand, there's only three pgs i know that would try something like that against yao... baron, marbury, and ... nash. just relentless players. they just make room when there's no room to be made. any other pg would have turned around. yao's gonna either draw a foul, block it, or alter it... so... i agree he should have "made a statement" and knocked him down.

i would have said better guard defense, but there's no keeping players of that caliber in front of you ALL the time.

Frankly, I think the Rockets played about the same style with previous games. The difference is, Mavs adjusted with the zone, and the Rockets' shots arn't falling. And to think how many people jump up whenever someone has some questioning of the guard play after a win over the likes of Heat....

One thing we might want to look at:

Dallas ~~ 23 for 28 free throws, 17 fouls commited

Houston ~~ 12 for 12 free throws, 22 fouls commited

Blame this player or that player if you want, but they have got to learn to overcome winning a game when the other team is getting all the calls. Thats when they will be winners.

It aint so! Yao just not playing 7'6 rt now....once he realizes he is that tall and talented, there will be no stoppers.

every body played weak tonight and we lost to dallas, the team beat us on ALL 4 encounters last season. so it's not that surprise. having said that i think we might have won tonight or at least closer than this...
but the season is still young. lets hope they learn something this.

From the look on TV, YaoMIng was complaining about the guards play to Patric on the bench. :)

Yao and his teammates, not Bradley, stopped Yao.

    Their centres combined for 3 points (.25 FG%), 5 rebounds, 1 block and six PF as compared to Yao's 12 points (.42 FG%), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 TO, 2 steals, 1 block and 4 PF.

Well, how did Bradley or Fortson stop Yao with this comparison. Other than the centre position, we pretty lost in every match-ups - forward, SG and PG. You may barely call it a tie for JJ.

    :(
