That's a great pickup, high intensity championship caliber role player. Love his fire and mental toughness. Something I hope rubs off on Ryan timid a$$
I don't know nothing about this guy. Can some please explain the type of player he is? Was this a good sign?
i don't know what all this 4 talk is; he's a 3. he's 6'5". I get small ball and all, but Tucker's position is small forward, and he can guard multiple positions. Last year he shot a high percentage 3pt (40%). He plays very good defense (he averages about 2 steals per 36 min). He doesn't turn the ball over. And he's one of the best rebounding small forwards in the league. I don't like it as a 4-yr deal,, but he's probably worth about $8 mil a year in the near-term. Ariza/ Tucker is a very solid 3-spot defensively, and more than serviceable offensively. It's a fit when you consider the scoring power of a guard rotation of Harden, Gordon, and Paul.
#1 He has his marching orders from his owner to spend money and win now at all costs. #2 He is maximizing Harden and Paul's prime. Once Harden is older and Paul is gone, you are looking at a substantial rebuild. You go for now. #3 Tucker's deal isn't very much money and and is very tradeable.
with Harden, CP3, and MDA, we're gonna be an elite offensive team no matter what the biggest thing we needed to improve was our below average defense if we can be top 3 on offense and close to top 10 on defense then we're closing in on true contender status now if Morey can just swing a deal for Melo to give us another legit option on offense
This is just like when Morey was building a team around TMAC. Morey realized that TMAC wasn't the strongest leader and went out to build a team of leaders to run with him. Yao, Artest, (a young)Lowry*, Chuck, Deke, Scola, Battier. Now, after game 5 and a disastrous Game 6, Morey has realized that maybe Harden needs a little toughness and maturity and now he is going after those players. I like it.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, but one correction to the above... he only shot around 36% last year. Still respectable.
he's a tenacious defender...he gives 100% effort on that end he's an average, low volume 3 point shooter but is otherwise limited offensively he's already 32, so I honestly don't like giving him 4 years at all, but he will help us
