Cp3 wants Melo. Now the question becomes if he asks for a buyout or they get it done via trade.

Melo is supposedly going to be bought out by the Knicks in the next few days. That's how we would get Melo.

We do have control over it. If we don't go out of our way to bring in a player that has stated publicly (repeatedly) that he has no intention of staying, then we do have control over it.

Also, I absolutely believed Houston had a chance to get CP3.

I'd take Melo or someone like Ibaka if it means keeping Eric Gordon. Stars win titles, sure, but you have to have SOME role players (Iggy, Bogut, McGee, Livingston).

He has beef with Phil Jackson who has recently left the team. Would they still buy him out is the question

It seems like all the big men Morey has pursued in their primes have fizzled out or are too overpriced for him. Maybe that's why we load up on undersized 4s. Bargain bin material that could pan out.

    That's what cows do.

Tim MacMahon tweeted that Houston is very " confident" that either George or Melo is Houston bound.

If we can give Melo the full MLE @ total $26m over 3years with a player option in the 3rd year which would allow him to opt out and we re-sign him with full bird rights if we so choose.

Melo has $53m over 2 years remaining. The Knicks could get a $17m discount on those 2 years and Melo wouldn't lose a dime. And we are then getting Melo at a deal that's worth a bit less than his value.

However, there's a risk. There are teams that would sign Melo to more than the MLE right now. He could probably get $15m/per from some team, so if the Knicks are willing to agree to a buyout, he would have to be willing to leave significant money on the table to come to Houston.

    Capela/Nene/Anderson
    Melo/Anderson
    Ariza/Melo/Troy
    Harden/Gordon
    Paul/Harden

Holy cow that team can score. If they buy into a mindset where all are willing to move off the ball and set picks for each other and dramatically reduce iso plays, we could be an all time great scoring team with MDA at the helm. Unfortunately, we would be a terrible transition team and a poor defensive team. But man, that team could be the best scoring team ever seen - we were already 10th all time.

True that Warriors would be miles ahead of us defensively - but you could make the case that we are miles ahead offensively. Man, we are bringing Anderson and Gordon off the bench in this scenario. Now that's what I call an UPPED risk profile lol.

    Offensively:
Harden, Melo, Paul, Gordon, Anderson x MDA
    vs
Durant, Curry, Klay, Iggy?, Green? x Kerr

As much as I hate Melo, I truly wonder if this final roster is better than whatever we can conjure up after acquiring George. Can Melo be motivated to care about winning, get in NBA shape and become a deadly 3rd scorer?

If he can get Lerbron than that would take care of the double chin to the left.

Well, now Paul is a major player in the NBA?Players Assn contract negotiations. So NBA probably doesn't want to piss him off.

Hoping it's George trade first, then Melo after buyout.

Windhorst: The way this was constructed leaves the door open for a Paul George offer, built aorund Eric Gordon. They have other assets on the team they can trade directly to Indiana or to other teams to give to the Pacers what they want. Is it likely? I don't know. I wouldn't have said Paul traded to Houston was likely 24 hours ago.
