He mixes his pitches well and has a real good feel for the game. He lacks that clear #1 pitch but sometimes guys surprise.
Drew Ferguson finished 2-6 with an RBI single last night and extended his hitting streak to 22 games.
Rogelio is not in our Top 30 prospects. Rogelio is pitching above his prospect reports, but so did Devo.
For what it's worth, the Baseball Prospectus reports on Rogelio (from 2016) were positive. They clocked his FB as 87-94. Here's their summary: Spoiler: BP Reviews And here's Wilson Karaman's Cal League Review from the end of last season:
Haven't delved into his stats or anything since ST, but when does he become an interesting guy for someone to want?
Yeah, I think he'll get asked about as we get closer to the deadline. Jon Kemmer (5) and Tony Kemp (1, 2-run) have homered for Fresno as they lead Tacoma 3-1 in the 6th.
White and PTucker are worthless, maybe he starts getting some AAA ABs sometime. I didn't know (I knew it was bad but...) Fresno's staff was in such dire straits: Aplin, White, Moran and Brignac have all pitched so far. Aplin actually did well.
Dan Straily 2016- 3.76 ERA, 4.88 FIP, 5.02 xFIP 2017- 3.70 ERA, 4.20 FIP, 4.71 xFIP Give me Archer, Cole, Stroman, or Quintana Random.......but has anyone seen what Vlad Jr. is doing as an 18 year old at low A? .333/.437/.514 for a .951 ops with 25 walks to 20 strikeouts Toronto gave him $3.9 million in 2015
I've thought about this without having much evidence to back it up besides "they've been reasonably successful minor league hitters in America" and "they've all had MLB time (except for Kemmer)," but I think Tyler White, Older Tucker, and Jon Kemmer could be guys who could have nice careers in Asia.
I've always wondered why more guys don't do that (though I'm pretty sure they have limits on the # of foreigners). In their shoes, I would absolutely be taking Japanese lessons in the offseason, just to help get my foot in the door down the road. Tuffy Rhodes was a star over there, after all. How hard could it be?
Sounds like Japan is less restrictive. Only 4 foreigners can be on the 25-man game day roster but there's apparently no limit to the amount of foreign players that they can sign. Korea has a cap of 3 foreign players. And I agree wholeheartedly on learning Japanese/Korean on the side. If I were a guy who got drafted in the late rounds, signed for $1,000, and made it to AA/AAA like White and Kemmer have, I'd definitely entertain that notion. Many of these guys seem dead-set on wanting to continue their careers in America so they'll play indy ball for peanuts. On the other hand, NPB and KBO could pay them so much better than what they were getting in the Minors and what American indy ball would get them.
Minor leaguers going to Asia could also send a message to MLB to find a way to pay their minor leaguers better. I don't think the league has ever been as well-off financially as they are right now, but they'd rather force inane rules changes down our throats instead of making sure the players that are possibly going to be a part of their future get paid more than a pittance. Also... do well there, come back like Eric Thames!
I don't see that ever being a significant thing. The personality of the career minor leaguer (or baseball in general) is very different from that of the adventurous type willing to move to another continent for a job.
