slight correction -- Morey was working for the Celtics when we drafted Head in 2005. Agree. From what I've seen of the two of them, which I'm sure is not nearly as much as you've watched, Taylor has the PG instinct, attacking, vision and passing. Payton, not so much. To me, Payton is an enigma on offense. Despite his pedigree, he doesn't seem like much of a PG to me, except ability to defend the position. He might never run an NBA offense, so he better learn how to shoot the ball. I think ppl might be giving his pg skills too much credit because of his name.
Go back and look at the laat game against Phoenix. Taylor got ABUSED! He is going to get killed on the defensive end. I thought they should've signed GP III. He has size, length and athleticism. It's easier to teach a althletic, defensive player how to shoot vs teaching a short offensive player how to grow (HE CAN'T....HE'S MAXED OUT)
Athletically similar. KJ cannot handle the basketball nor pass. And Payton is in the middle of his first professional season. Whether he develops his jump shot is largely unknown. He may not. KJ is three years in to his professional career with no improvement on his jump shot.
Payton is older than KJ McDaniels. 24 yrs old Long time to not have developed a 3. At age 24, Bev was shooting .375 from 3 in a limited roll fighting for his life as a rookie. For all we know, Bev had that range earlier, too.
Lol.. GP2 got picked up by a team where the SF is the PG for a reason. He's not a PG, he's a 2 guard who can't shoot. Better to keep the actual PG and get a SG that can play defense and shoot.
