We don need casspi even though he isn't bad. If no Bogut we can take a risk with Sanders, as long as we get a 4/5 who has length and can contribute we automatically become very deep!!
Rockets will still need to address getting a true C that can play D and get them rebounds in traffic. Plus the team has two roster spots to fill. Will know by March 1st since most players that can be allowed to play in the playoffs must be bought out or waived by then.
The Finals gonna be amazing tho Irving-DWill JR-Korver-Iman Lebron-Jefferson-Liggins Love-Frye-Derrick Williams Thompson-Bogut That depth and shooting is amazing... Would probably run 9 man rotation in Finals.
Posted this in another thread. Seems relevant. Add Casspi and Sanders or.... Gags Bogut, and we are set.
Without over thinking this... He is a perfect moneyball move. His skill set and size is our needs --> cheap and could have a super high return. Win for him, too; plus a chance not only for a ring but his career. If AB can't focus in now it will cost him a lifestyle --> he knows that now, too.
I wonder if Udoh is another guy we may have some interest if we miss on Bogut etc, i've not followed him in Euroleague but i spoke with few guys, they follow and write some about Euro leagues and continental competitions, and they told me he's basically the best center in Europe right now, playing pretty well after he spent some time under Obradovic (which is basically the Euro Pop lol), solid defense, good energy and has been working to get a decent jumper. He's under contract for this season and there's an option for the next one, but it seems there's a clause to come back in the nba. The only thing i'm not sure is how much money he's makeing but it seems it's something around 3.5M for the two years on his contract. Oh, they also told me Todorovic is playing ok but they don't think he's nba material, fwiw.
Bring in either Hakeem or Mutombo for the stretch run and sign Casspeepee! Nuff said??? Get'r done Morely!!! ....... ....... .......
I'd have understood this one before Lou Williams but what do we need another guard for? We probably have the best guard depth in the NBA now.
Anyone interested in Carly Landry? He put up some crazy efficient numbers last season for Philly. http://www.csnphilly.com/the700level/brief-tribute-carl-landrys-crazy-statistical-season-ages
This shouldn't be seen as adding a rotational player. For me, this is just an add for playoff matchup plan B or plan C. If things are going bad with a certain starter matchup, the Rockets already have the backup for that position ready to go. If things go real bad, then they might try to buy 5 or 10 minutes of defense (or rebounding or offense) from this pickup and hope he can swing things or at least not bleed too much. The most obvious example is if we play the Grizz and the 3's aren't falling, and Gasol/ZBo are just destroying Ryno/Capela down low and Nene is in foul trouble or hurt. Things like that are what I think they should be looking for - an emergency blood stopper. Ideally, this pickup would never play or only play during garbage time because otherwise it would be a sign of the game plan going terribly wrong. Another example would be to add a pure scorer in the case that the offense has uncharacteristically malfunctioned.
