For starters this is NOT, Yi, period. This kid can play. If Steph is a superstar because of how soft the game has become, he will be fine. He is a second round pick. Would be happy for him to be a rotation player, wasnt Yi? Yi cant be that bad hes still playing in the CBA...the game has changed. Alot softer now, more free flowing. He wont get banged up like Yao did. They will try of course, but he will adjust. I doubt we draft him for no reason??

Now Lull on the other hand, I doubt he sniffs the NBA.

He is from a different culture, being big and solid doesnt make you better if you have no basketball skills. I like him the way he his....all that adding weight trying to play "American" is what messed Yao up....

Based on?.... I say the opposite. Based on what I've seen of his character, coordination, touch, athleticism, size, basketball instincts.

    Nope.

The ridiculous year round play is what did it.

Yao had a big base...massive thews, etc.

It never bothered him before, until he started putting on weight. Yao was very mobile, a face up shooting player...he wasnt a banger. He got here and put on weight, changed his game to try and bang with the bigs in the NBA. He wasnt built for it. Stick to what you know.

Joe Chee (Zhou Qi) is a stretch 4 in D'Antoni's system, not a 5. And he has a 7-9 wingspan, just slightly less than Rudy Gobert in the entire NBA. Some of these expectations are ridiculous. He's already a more versatile PF than Wiltjer, who everyone loves because he has one great skill - 3 ball.

Zhou can dribble, pass, rebound, defend PnR, close out on shooters, block shots and run the court like a guard. We get it, he's skinny but the kid can play.

I don't doubt his skill potential. But you have to have some weight on you to at the very least avoid injury.

Average 16.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks this season in CBA. Looks a little bit stronger.

NBA weight lifting program and just physical maturity as he ages will take care of the "good" weight.
